Nick knows who he’s taking. He’s playing it smart with the smokescreens. Last year was different because we all knew Sting was the pick.

“Stroud scored 18,” an executive said. “That is like red alert, red alert, you can’t take a guy like that. That is why I have Stroud as a bust. That in conjunction with the fact, name one Ohio State quarterback that’s ever done it in the league.”

When another executive was informed that Stroud scored extremely low, he said that it confirmed what he had seen on tape.

“That was my concern with him,” the scout said. “His personality is just sort of calm and mellow and laidback, and that’s the way he plays. You look at how Bryce Young plays and how Stroud plays, I don’t see how anyone can look at those two play football and you’d want that guy (Stroud) over Young. Bryce’s mind is so quick and he processes so fast. Whereas with Stroud, everything is much, much more programmed.”

“The benchmark is 80. Eighty and above is good. Stroud was 18. It’s incredibly terrible. He’s going to be off (some team’s) boards. He will not be picked by those teams.”

Despite the S2 results, a survey of 16 evaluators asking them for their choice as the quarterback with the best chance to bust showed Stroud behind Richardson and Levis. The bust vote count was eight for Richardson, five for Levis, two for Stroud and one for Young. In addition, the panel was asked to rank their top quarterbacks on a 1-2-3-4-5 basis, with a first-place vote worth 5 points, a second-place vote worth 4 and so on.

Young, with 10 firsts and 72 points, led the way. He was followed by Stroud (56, two), Levis (46, three), Richardson (40, one), Hooker (20), Max Duggan (two), Haener (two), Tanner McKee (one) and Dorian Thompson-Robinson (one).

Here’s a sampling how some scouts summed up this collection of quarterbacks.

AFC evaluator: “I would say a bit above average. There’s not a bonafide guy. There’s no Andrew Luck. Comparing it to Joe Burrow, Tua (Tagovailoa), Justin Herbert, that class was way better coming out. You can poke holes in all these guys.”

AFC evaluator: “It’s the most overhyped, and understandably so, group that I can recall. Every one of them is flawed, and some with major flaws. So I think they all get overdrafted and, unfortunately, they all underperform. Even if they become starters they’re bottom-half-of-the-league starters.”

AFC evaluator: “Teams have gone to better athletes at quarterback, but they’re shorter.”

NFC evaluator: “None of these guys are Andrew Luck or Trevor Lawrence.”

AFC evaluator: “History tells us probably four of the (top) five will be busts. It’s crazy.”

Think it all depends on if you believe Young is the only QB they really want. If so, they have to wait until Carolina picks before they decide. I agree they have a plan and pick ready depending on what the Panthers do.

I’m at the point where if we don’t get Bryce, just draft one of Duggan, Tune, Haener or Hall a little later and have them compete with Mills

Mmm hmmmm. NOW the 'pro's' are starting to accept that this years QB class is just ok. Nothing special. Hopefully some of our fans can catch up and realize that QB OR BUST is nowhere near a relevant statement commensurate to the talent pool. If you go QB in this draft dont go 'safe' .. swing for the fences.

What I don't understand is if you love Bryce Young, then why don't you love Jake Haener. The media has said nothing about him since he's a boring prospect. Jake is bigger in size than Bryce, same processing speed, mobile (not as escapable as Bryce, but still above average) and same arm strength, same accuracy. You can get a Bryce Young QB later in the draft. There are too many lazy media members who have tunnel vision trying to understand this years draft.

If you draft based on S2, you are an idiot. I don’t care id Stroud scored a 0, he is the 2nd best QB in this draft. There is an attempt by the Colts, Raiders, and Titans to get the Texans to pass on Stroud. Those teams want him to fall. Ignore the noise.

Better than wasting the 2nd overall on anyone besides Bryce.
Stroud is going to be a bust

I'm not basing drafting Haener off of just the S2 score. I am basing my opinion off of watching his Fresno State tape. I could of told you had a high S2 score beforehand just by reviewing his tape. People in Houston are not going to be familiar with Haener, but Demeco Ryans and Bobby Slowik are going to be very familiar with Haener coming from the San Francisco area. I am not advocating drafting Haener in the 1st round. But I would trade up in the 2nd round or use one of the third rounders to draft Haener. Use the 1st round picks to upgrade your defensive line.

Lol nothing has changed at all. A QB is still going #1 overall and we’ll still likely see 3-4 QBs go in the Top 5 picks.

I would ask the Raiders to throw in Divine Diablo in a trade, along w/ their 2024 1st and a 3rd rounder this year to trade up
Deablo, Diablo same thing. Christian and Diablo as your linebackers!

This is just mean. Basically how I feel attempting to understand The Witcher timeline.
