starting to prepare myself for Vogel he does have some good qualities I guess, and at the very least, he’ll be much better than Silas if there aren’t any major defensive upgrades added to this roster, it would be an achievement of the highest order if he gets this collection of players closer to 20th defensively give him Borrego as an offensive coordinator, and get him someone that can actually run an offense Rockets ranking in the 20-25 range on both offense and defense would be a major improvement
Coach Vogel will get to deal with KPJ....... he will also get to deal with Stone and the seed of Tilly constantly interfering and telling him what to do.... and Vogel will eventually capitulate like he did in Indiana and in LA. Fans get working hard and being tough confused - Vogel will work really hard, but he doesn't have the backbone to tell all the leeches to back off.
Vogel isn’t as bad as everyone is saying, but the fear is that he’s too nice a guy to hand out the discipline this team needs. Think Udoka is the right pick followed by Atkinson (wayyyy back).
Stone Van Gundy at it again I’m gonna be out here wondering if the lineups are Vogel’s, or if they’re Stone’s
As a person and actual coach, no Vogel isn't that bad. He is a very good defensive coach - the problem is that at the end of the day he lacks the backbone and unless a coach in in an organization that will back them up on tough decisions- they will fail.
I had someone say that I was too hard on Stephen Silas. Basically they said that Silas had no choice but to do everything that Stone wanted because Silas was a new coach and he would be fired if he didn't do what Stone wanted. I think it is the opposite. At worse, had Silas stood up to Stone, he would have been fired (and paid) and he would not have the stink of the last three years on him and would be viewed as a coach and person that had a backbone. Instead he stuck around for three years, has the reputation as a puppet coach, is viewed as a failure and loser. Does anyone really think that Silas will get another head coaching offer anytime soon? No way - he has been exposed as soft, and easily manipulated. A strong organization, with a shared culture, checks and balances and a long term vision makes it a lot easier for coaches to coach.... and those organizations tend to all weed out the weak.
So we get nothing out of the Udoka interview? Nothing? It’s bad enough that Stone and Tilly are the face of the franchise. I don’t have high degree of confidence in their ability to make a great first impression with a sought after coach; especially Stone, who comes off like an egotistical, insecure, lawyer/Snake. the guy has the emotional intelligence of a slug. “Yeah John Wall and I have a great relationship”. Meanwhile Wall is calling him and the organization trash. The guy has no cred to his name. What are we doing running it back with this clown GM?
Exactly. I know we are laughing, but that SHOULD be the no. 1 question these coaches should get scrutinized on. And if that is NOT what Stone is focusing on, it already shows he is a ****ing moron.
How do we know that Silas didn't stand up to Stone? Maybe he did and that's what got him fired? There was that tidbit in the Athletic about Silas putting an end to Stone interfering with practices. IMO, it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. He can't just quit because that would be a breach of his contract, so he tried to make the best of a bad situation. Silas probably wouldn't have accepted the job if he knew it was going to be a rebuild situation. To make matters worse, he got put in a rebuild situation on what was effectively a 3-year contract. Usually, to get coaches to sign up for that, they need a longer-term contract (around 5 years) in case they end up the scapegoat...like what happened with Silas.
Their 101-94 win over the Detroit Pistons Wednesday night notwithstanding, the Indiana Pacers are a mess—“spiraling” and “splintering,” as center Roy Hibbert put it after his team's loss to the Spurs Monday night, per NBA.com. Head coach Frank Vogel would like Hibbert—and everyone else in the Indy locker room, for that matter—to please keep those thoughts and feelings in-house. You know, like adults. Which these people ostensibly are. Per Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star, Vogel said: “It bothers me. Guys should never air in-house stuff to the media. I talked to the team about it today (Wednesday)… It was a weird thing. Roy said it a couple of days ago (after the Washington loss) and nobody really caught onto it until (recently). So I made sure to tell them that A) I don't believe we have 'selfish dudes' in our locker room and B) whatever you might want to say about your teammates, don't say it to the media. We have to get that stopped.”
No, not at all. It should be what playmakers are available to us via FA or trade and if Sengun can fit next to them, Green, and Bari.
Coulda woulda shoulda can be used synonymous, depending on the scenario, but from a basic viewpoint, if I/you could borrow 5+ billion$ from someone then 40 million$ is chump change and can be easily borrowed from that same party If you disagree then so be it
LOL @ Roy Hibbert thinking he was HIM! Anyone remember when Chuckwagon told him he'd bust his **** wide open during one of our games? Ahhh I remember! Context: https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-to-team-stop-dishing-in-house-stuff-to-media
