Seems like there are always qualifiers! Look I respect that you view Udoka as the best option. Every guy mentioned should be an upgrade. If it happens to be Udoka cool let’s mount up! If it’s someone else hopefully they get the same passion and support from you guys after the mandatory bully and hazing period.
Lol no I didn’t get the chance! I married my high school sweetheart and we’re pushing 25 years. With any luck we’ll make it another 25 as my ride has only gotten better and better with time.
the KPJ stuff doesn’t really apply with Udoka tho so I don’t really see the hypocrisy KPJ has actually caused issues in the locker room…multiple instances with multiple teams from high school, college, and the NBA and even then, the amount of people who’s main or biggest issue with KPJ is his off the court antics is minuscule…the vast amount of criticism regarding KPJ is his play on the court as the PG and times when he shows demonstrably bad language like last year against Memphis or stuff like the times this year he felt he should’ve gotten the ball, didn’t, and just stood there on offense and made no effort to get back on D after the eventual Rockets brick for example Steve Kerr has definitely been aided by the talent in GS, but he took GS to a new level as a team and completely transformed their offense from what it was under Mark Jackson…we can’t deny that What was dysfunctional about the 13-14 and 14-15 teams under McHale? 13-14 team was a bit dumb and immature, and the 14-15 team had good chemistry. Harden and Dwight weren’t best friends, but it wasn’t an issue until 15-16. McHale had some results, but there are players that can do a lot to mask low quality coaching. I’m sure if Silas had a prime healthy Harden and shooters this whole time, whatever BS he was running on offense would be top 5 and he’d be a 3x playoff coach. Even a bum like Nash can be a toenail away from the ECF. this loaded Boston roster had never gotten over the hump and apparently the locker room had troubles, but Ime was pivotal in bringing things together…if Boston was handed over to a known and well established below average coach like Scottie Brooks or something post-Ime and still had these same results, it would be one thing, but it’s also highly likely Boston just identified 2 good coaches in Ime and now Joe
it’s not qualifiers, it’s context Ime has been a HC, Silas wasn’t Tatum has been coached by Coach K, Pop, and Stevens…his comments on Ime hold much more weight than comments from 2nd year Luka on the eternal assistant coach Stephen Silas
We can agree to disagree then. I think we’ve both said our piece. Whoever the coach is if he gets these guys playing better he will have my support.
Wrong. He eats Landry’s Seafood on his yacht, gets food poison and immediately pulls name out of Houston bid. Lol.
Right and I’ve also said I believe Udoka is a better coach than Silas, but now we’re going to weigh and compartmentalize the nice comments about these guys and add a fan perspective that is subjective to each argument. Let’s dig up the nice comments about Nurse and Vogel and see which ones come from good players, rank them and then use that as a qualification for the hire! In all seriousness I don’t think Udoka is better than any other person mentioned and his risky behavior could also be a problem for this team and it seems he’s getting a free pass for a perceived advantage in arbitrary half season numbers and a continued ascent with LESS talent — that is one hell of a vote of confidence and I’m just not there. That’s cool too.
This is so weird. Absolutely no leaks at all. I haven’t even heard anything from national media…. This could be bad or good. Hopefully it’s a good sign.
They’ve interviewed 5 guys. Only one (guess which) leaked out how “great” it went and how he plans to turn it around. Frank Vogel: INTERVIEWED (April 12) Kevin Young: INTERVIEWED (April 14) Adrian Griffin: INTERVIEWED (April 15) James Borrego: INTERVIEWED (April 17) Ime Udoka: INTERVIEWED (April 19) Kenny Atkinson: TBD Sam Cassell: TBD “I’m told he was very impressive to the people in Houston...He’s going to be brought back again." — Woj “Frank Vogel, who led the Lakers to the 2019-20 championship and along the way a second-round win over Houston that sent the Rockets to their teardown and rebuild, was the first to interview and left a strong impression. Similar to when Mike D’Antoni became former Rockets owner Leslie Alexander’s preference and eventual choice, Vogel demonstrated confidence that he could guide the next stage of the rebuild and immediately upgrade a defense that has been among the league’s worst.” — Feigen “I do believe that Frank Vogel is a very clear candidate, and perhaps the front runner at this stage, to be the successor to Stephen Silas as head coach of the Rockets.” — Dubose “I think it's gonna end up being Vogel.” — Iko
****ing annoying. Interviewed him first, and leaked all that stuff. The other interviews seem to be only for show.
James Borrego is the type who should be getting interviewed for assistant coach positions, not HC hell, put him on Vogel’s staff because we know he needs all the public assistance in the world when it comes to offense
