Media narrative? Bro, the DA said there was a racial component...maybe you should talk to him about narratives as he seems to think this was racially motivated. Then again, if all you do is tell everyone that black people are criminals then it's no surprise that when a young black male rings a doorbell someone might think they are being robbed and shoot first. After all, numerous conservatives including ones in this tread keep talking about how black people commit all this crime and so you're teaching people that black people are dangerous and should be treated as such. Did he or did he not say he shot the young man? He is not an ACCUSED SHOOTER. He is a SELF-ADMITTED SHOOTER. The charge, which is the actual crime, is not mentioned in the headline. If the crime was mentioned it would have read "Andrew Lester, 84-year-old Kansas City man accused of Assault in the First degree in the shooting of Ralph Yarl, is in custody". In that headline the ACCUSATION is Assault in the first degree. So I agree with you 100%. If the actual crime is stated it should always be listed as "accused". Shooting someone may or may not be a crime. There is absolutely no doubt he shot Ralph Yarl. He has fully admitted to shooting Ralph Yarl. He has pled not guilty to Assualt in the first degree. He has not pled not guilty to shooting Ralph Yarl. There is a distinct difference. In his own arraignment he said he shot Ralph because "was scared to death".

Know nothing about your anecdote...however, in this particular story, the shooter literally said he doesn't want their kind around there after he shot him and then opened the door and shot him again. He shot this kid because he was black and on his property...regardless of why he was there or if he was a threat in any way. There's really not that many ways to look at this other than a racist old man freaked the f*** out when a black kid rang his doorbell.

There could be a difference with how media covers these stories, that's fair...but look through this thread...you calling everyone racist except the guy that seems to want to talk about how black crime when it literally has nothing to do with this story. The difference is when a white person is murdered the response is "That's messed up." When a black person is murdered the response is "That's messed up but..." then we'll get a bunch of "Were they on drugs? What were they doing? What about black crime?" It would be nice if the country could just go "This was messed up." and leave it at that.

The stats say the overwhelming majority of black people are not criminals, so going on about how black people are criminals is racist. Using 'stats' to do so doesn't make it less racist, in fact, it's a classic strategy used by one of the most racist governments of all time, the Nazi's. Again, you want to call people here racist, start with the guy whose post you liked that's been going on about how black people are criminals.
