I'll say it again: why would Nick ever be a part of a team that drafted a quarterback any higher win for the vast majority of his career he was working for a team with the GOAT?
Fine. They needed a better plan at QB than Mills and Case f-ing Keenum. I would seriously prefer Carson Wentz (to preserve tanking options to be in a position to obtain a QB next year).
honestly, for me, the Manning thing is the biggest red flag for Stroud. Even I've cooled on him a little because it sounds like he might be a guy content where he's at right now...which spells disaster for a top pick. Likely looking too much into it but if it's not Stroud (or Young if we get lucky) then I hope it is Anderson. Yeah I am worried about his lack of strength and all but having Demeco as a coach gives me more confidence. Give Demeco another weapon to torture offenses with and maybe take a QB at 12 or another in the 2nd or 3rd round. Plenty of QB stars come later in the draft and I feel like with judging QBs the biggest thing is personality. How much does a guy want to be good? How able is he to pick up new things and learn?
I like Bijan and some mocks having him creep up to top 10. I wonder if Texans could move back from #2 to like #7 or #8. Package some of those picks in that deal with #33 and/or a 2024 first at most to move into top 15. Pierce/Bijan combo with this improved O-Line is what a rookie QB needs or any QB for that matter.
Is it not a fact that Richardson only played QB 1 season? Is it not a fact that Levis regressed in his 2nd season?
Ignore the noise. The Texans will take a QB. It will probably be Stroud. There is a chance they will trade for Lance instead. They will not roll with Mills and Keenum as their QBs for 2023.
Based on what? Certainly wasn’t his QB rating. In reality, his completion percentage went down from 66% in year 1 to 65.4% in year 2. His average yards per game went up in year 2 as well as his average yard per attempt. And as I mentioned, his QB rating went up in year 2. Exactly which part of his game regressed. I am by no means saying I am a Levis fan or think he will be a great NFL QB only that this idea he got so much worse from year 1 to year 2 is fallacy.
Lance mentioned that for the Shannahan/Kubiak version of the West Coast offense, accuracy is prized above everything else and that Stroud wouldn't be a bad fit in the system, at all. I get trying to see what trade options are out there, but I hope Caserio and Ryans don't outsmart themselves.
CJ Stroud can be eliminated from consideration at #2 overall. You can’t give a huge contract to someone you can’t trust.
Even if he did drop some, he was hurt season 2 and the few weapons he had in season 1 weren't there in season 2
