...maybe what folks ought to be saying...

...instead of making America great again...

...is "America is On Its Way Back!"

...just how FAR back is interesting to watch, though.

...makes a little more sense, now, all of this book-burning and revising an already revisionist American history.

...who doesn't long for the good old days?;)

The "child labor" and "living wage" are 2 different issues, right?

I don't know enough yet to comment on the former...the latter is just another example of the GOP ("party of small government") preferring centralized control over local control because they don't like what the locals are doing.

The GOP in TX just passed one of the most broad bills in America, and we won't know the ramifications of it for many years. No good will come from this for the citizens of Texas, it's gonna be a sh**show of litigation.

Yea, different thing. I was responding to a post.

Right, the party of small government strikes again by extending power and control over local institutions, from schools to local prosecution to city regulation, doing exactly what they have always accused the other side of wanting to do.

I've got a solidly great neighbor who happens to be one of the County Commissioners here (he's as far from a loonie as you can get)...I'll have to ask him, once he's had a bit to digest it, how it will actually affect things around here: drought restrictions(!!!), water conservation measures, etc...are the ones that hit me the hardest just off the top of my head, but the potential list is endless.

And then there's all the other general stuff that the City/County has always taken care of, and now I have to wonder if some jackf**k somewhere else in Texas is going to tell us we can't do it?

    :D...will you calm down?

...you of all people know that my persona on this forum is the height of irreverence and obliviousness and self-indulgence.

...and that I usually know (despite popular opinion) a whole hell of a lot more than people think.

...all I meant with that statement, is that we are all better served when we're watching who gets voted into local office. I'm afraid I know too many people who want to complain about things like this and forget that the best way to address it is at the ballot box...;)

Oh I'm calm, but that's also why I added the winky-smiley thing (you should feel special, because I generally detest using emojis on principle)

It is certainly a strong list of reasons, why the Rs will struggle with 20s votes now and the 30s vote in the next decade and so on and so on.

I think a similar list can be started

for suburban women ... with the Rs showing their true colors on restricting all abortions, all birth control, etc.

for senior citizens .. with the Rs wanting to get rid of Social Security, Medicare, etc.

It’s really what gives me hope for the US despite how decisive and ugly it is. The GOP has nothing to offer anyone under 30. I probably won’t live to see it but gun control and universal healthcare will get here eventually.

Great list. Only big thing he left of is that they don't support veterans.
