I agree 100%. Yet, many of those who think cross dressing is evil, wrong or inherently sexual won't say that. They try and pretend it isn't because it's drag-sexual, just sexual in general. But the part that raises their blood pressure isn't the sexual part of it. It's the drag part of it. Sure they wouldn't support kids seeing sexy female strippers, but they would understand it because it is something they like. This seems foreign to them, so there is just no excuse for it.
Not if there are responsible parents around. Also, this is just deflection. Umm no, not at all. You are totally making this up. No parent would "understand it" and allow female strippers around their children. The difference is that female strippers do NOT force themselves onto children. These men in women's clothes do. Because they have a fetish.
I thought acceptance and respect for people's differences is what Jesus was all about. Don't get why these folks abandon their religion & values when their others tell them to.
I had a FB friend talking about taking her 9 year old to see John Wick 4 this weekend. Also her FB is loaded with anti Bud Light stuff and calling people groomers.
You mean their parents didn't take them to this Drag Queen Story hour? I guess the kids just ordered a ****ing Uber.
I am betting you had responsible parents but also saw R rated movies before you were 17. I'm betting most kids did. My friends and I, for the most part, had responsible parents. Yet, when they were asleep, we were watching whatever movies with nudity on cable we could find. Even in the silly videos posted, I never saw a person in drag FORCING themselves onto children.
You keep repeating this and I'm not sure you're right. Do you think drag is both inherently sexual (I'm not arguing that it can't be bawdy, but a lot of theater is rooted in camp) and about the performer being sexually aroused while performing? Or are you suggesting that drag performers who specifically read to children are actually pedophiles and use drag as a pretext to satisfy that fetish? The reason this rankles me is that, if I understand your assumptions correctly, you're using the same playbook that was used against regular gay men in the US. The conflation of pedophilia with homosexuality is a historic fear tactic that demonized and ostracized gay men for many years. It prevented them from living regular lives. Drag ≠ fetish ≠ pedophilia ≠ gay. FWIW, as I've said before, at this point I think more liberal parents are using their children as political signifiers by pushing them to attend any type of drag queen story hour. Just like parents who force their kids to attend Trump rallies, it feels hard to ignore that these events are now politically-charged and ripe for virtue signaling. I also don't think that a bawdy drag brunch is a good place for a child either. But I do have a problem with the state using its power to prevent parents from taking their children where they please in public and limiting free speech with overly broad laws that, conceivably, could criminalize a gay couple from taking their child to a pride parade. That's overreach and it's something that "conservatives" would normally be against if they had any political honesty.
Haha yes. Remember, I'm old and grew up before the Internet became widely accessible. I remember my nerdy friends and me buying a "Playboy" magazine at a train station when we were 14 or 15. We felt really embarrassed and nervous. That was on the way to a summer school in Scotland. That magazine was like the biggest treasure for all the 14-16 year old boys at that summer school. But back to the men in drag reading to little kids - these kids aren't 14, 15, 16. You can see it in the pictures. These men in drag are trying to get in front of very young children. I am not saying they are all pedophiles. But I find it really, really strange that this is even a thing. It seems to be a trend that men in drag read to very young children. Why?? What is the motivation? I wouldn't want my children to attend this. We are in agreement.
Man, some of y'all are acting like these drag queens are Catholic priests or Florida teachers or something...
Some people enjoy and are talented at performing for children. Have you ever seen a birthday clown or children's theater? I don't get why this is blowing your mind. You claim you are a parent, yes? I am a parent too. A parent of children who would fall squarely in the age range of Drag Queen storyhours and other types of shows. I feel like most of the children's performers I have seen are extremely effeminate, which includes some quite flamboyantly gay men. Pretty much 100% of drag performers are very effeminate gay men. Not really a huge shock that there is overlap there. There is no "trend", but there is an outrage driven social media algorithm that very obviously has you in its thrall. What is their motivation? Performers like to entertain and kids like to be entertained. That's it. Your great mystery solved. Again, if drag/cross-dressing/trans makes you uncomfortable, then don't participate. Otherwise stop trying to project negative intent onto something with absolutely zero basis for doing so other than your own personal distaste.
Yeah, that's what I figured. You're basically not even engaging in this topic or trying to understand anything. You're just raging and shitposting nonsense from your Twitterfeed. Worthless.
There is nothing to "understand". Men can wear women's clothes all they want and be flamboyant all they want, but leave young children alone with it. That's a simple ask. However, not only do they not leave them alone, they target them. It's a fetish. And reasonable parents are opposed to that.
