Derrick Fisher boned Matt Barnes' wife and Jason Kidd's cheating (and abuse) supposedly led to their divorce. They had coaching jobs when that went down. Yeah Ime was rightfully fired for company misconduct, but should it linger in future decisions? Should cast doubt but shouldn't be the only deciding factor. Mgmt should probe deeper and do character background checks and see if there are any more compromising gotchas or patterns of behavior. It's a multimillion dollar investment and partnership. Do it smrt Patty!!!
I'm little late to the party, but she's also referencing the infamous tweet about the Mavs that got the intern (or whoever) fired, no?
Wow, you've made up a story in your mind that we're talking about a guy who's good at winning women over. You SO obviously haven't seen the girl's photo lol When you see the photo you'll realize this is more the kind of situation where his friends saw the photo and asked him what the F is wrong with him.
facts…it was too soon to hire him and BK was also dealing with the Kyrie documentary drama, so they ultimately passed because they didn’t want the scrutiny hope he gets the job here in Houston
He's not ok in the head man. I don't want a distracted coach with mental issues, regardless of talent. Has never showed he can develop young players. Has not even had 2 seasons in the NBA to decisively prove anything about himself. Mazzula has won more as a rookie coach and Stevens achieved ECF (one round less than Ime) with a much younger Tatum/Brown. There are no NBA players who got caught cheating who are good head coaches. Just a stupid risk to take after tanking for 3 years and being in the perfect position to build a playoff team. I don't need this guy making choices for my team: I'll give him a pass if he apologizes and admits he risked his team's title run and is going to therapy or something. Otherwise, this guy has some growing up to do and frankly it looks like he just got lucky in his honeymoon season with the Celtics then got fully owned by Kerr in the Finals. Doc Rivers' best ever coaching season was his rookie season, and I suspect Udoka will have a similar career. We really don't need a HC who needs a babysitter. Our whole roster needs a babysitter already. Maybe a veteran team can work with Udoka, but this Rockets team is such a poor fit.
I’m worried Udoka might bang some of our players since they act and want to look like girls. I would bring that up in the interview.
For a guy who titled a thread redemption, @Mathloom u have quite a bias against dudes who cheated. When folks have bias against someone that goes beyond basketball, they lose reliability in my eyes when it comes to said someone. U pick the guy who has the most recent success, and ime udoka fits the bill. If u were to just b doubtful about Ime b/c of his small sample size and career as a hc, that's makes it more reasonable to b wary of Ime, but it seems like your dislike of Ime goes beyond basketball. I personally believe that being a cheater in relationship doesn't/shouldnt really define his career as coach. Jason kidd was given multiple opportunities, i don't see why ime udoka can't have a go as our hc either especially if he's competent at coaching. Who knows he now has a chip on shoulder to prove to folks that he aint just a one timer. He's my leading candidate, becky hammon being a close second, but we already wasted our first time hire on the inexperience silas, i doubt Tilman will allow Stone to do that again.
**** is silly. Most people around the NBA has cheated at some point. Usually the most successful people cheat bc there’s way more options and opportunities.
He cheated, it was wrong, if given the opportunity Ime would likely do it again because man might be a male nympho but none of that takes away from his coaching ability. I only want Ime for this squad. The players will look up to him which I dont think theyd really do for Nurse or even a Vogel nearly as much.
Udoka was a good role player down in San Antonio, he would have gotten more tail when playing than as a coach. This is really weird timing. The Celtics came out to ruin his reputation.
I think you’re really reaching here. Udoka can coach. There have been a TON of assholes that have been great at their jobs. Especially coaches.
The problem with Udoka isn't his inability to manage relationships; the problem with Udoka is he's too good at managing relationships. He needs to be less good at managing relationships with coworkers' wives.
Yeah but that was a great team, it's a still great team under a different coach with great talent. Out of everyone Udoka has the least HC experience. He can coach Tatum and Brown, but can he handle KPJ, Green and Smith who has just came off 3 worst seasons in the NBA
This site is funny….I make a thread where there’s a mention of something deep down inside of another thread and it’s shut down/closed immediately. This is literally a duplicate thread to the exact words and where is the censorship???
My dislike of Ime goes beyond basketball? I recommended him as coach in 2015, before he was even a candidate. Again 2-3 more times before he got hired in Boston. I'm keenly aware of his talent, much as I'm aware of KPJ's talent for example. Talent is not everything for a player, and moreso for a HC. I've listed out how it's relevant to coaching. I really don't care about his wife. He just seems like a poor decision maker. You CLAIM it's about hiring the coach with the most success, but that's laughable when talking about a coach with one total season under his belt. As good as that season might be, he absolutely does not have the MOST success. We wasted out first time hire on a rookie HC, so we should now get a HC with just one good season of experience? Again, this reasoning is so incredibly weak. I just want a person with a LOT more experience and especially diverse experience with young and veteran players. I want a coach who took a team from garbage to relevance at least once, since that's the situation we're in. And yes, of course, a person who deflects blame and risks a title run and would rather lie in a bad relationship than leave it is a red flag because I understand psychology and archetypes, I have to as part of my job. It's very logical for our situation. What's REALLY ridiculous is we're talking about a guy who got fired and then the Nets also withdrew their offer to him for off court stuff, yet people are claiming this is the responsible choice lol. On the more playful side, I don't want a guy who was smashing a 5 against team policy while having all the options in the world. It's not a sign of charisma or intelligence.
Another counterpoint…..was the success due to his assistant coach who is now running the team in an identical manner. He was the brains running the show while this guy was out hitting on all the organization’s babes.
