Barragno interviewed today. Rockets need to hone in on Udoke and Vogel. Beginning to like Udoke more and more. He hasn’t yet had the awful seasons the other candidates have had. We all have to remember Nurse is not being let go anytime soon, so we may have to get Udoke. Any of the three are night and day better than Silas, but concerned with Nurse doing just average without Kawhi and Vogel potentially playing Nix. Tough call just hole we don’t go Barrigno or Atkinson based on awful lifetime records. Golden State doing bad with him as assistant. Is JVG too old?
Jvg is a relic. If u are hiring folks, logically u hire folks with the most recent success. I would even say Becky hammon would b a better candidate I would prefer over nurse and vogel. Pop disciple with recent basketball success. Too bad we wasted our first time hc hire on silas. I doubt stone is willing to go with another candidate lacking nba hc experience once more.
I’m hoping it’s Ime. We need that type of leadership on the bench for our young guys to learn the game the right way. Bring him in while they are still young so they can learn early and build that culture. So that every other player that comes on board will know our culture and embrace it. He is the kind of coach that will make other players want to come to HTown and be a part of it. I hope Tilman is the type to say “to hell with his past mistakes I need this great young coach for my young team”. We will just need the league to tell Tilman and Stone it’s ok to hire him now, he has paid his debt.
Thanks. That's a good read and helps me lean his way. Though, we already knew he was a consummating relationship builder...
People forget the Celtics started off horrible that season. Their were even talks about trading one of Tatum or Brown, that they couldn't play together Ime righted that ship and led that team to the Finals That's very impressive for a rookie coach. Basketball decisions shouldn't be compared to personal decisions when it involves affairs, like seriously, who cares
Counterpoint: They didn't miss a step after he left and have an even better record this season. How much was their success due to Udoka, and how much was regression to the mean, given the clearly very talented roster their front office had acquired?
Damn, no fan fare for Udoka? I was genuinely under the impression he's the board's favorite option. He's interviewing today I think.
You can't make that assessment on one season, you don't judge a relationship by the honeymoon period. People who can't maintain relationships, can't maintain relationships of any type. It's a systemic mental issue. It would be an anomaly if he's good at managing player relationships.
c’mon man, that’s a ridiculous statement by this logic, someone who’s cheating on their spouse isn’t capable of successfully leading a company or having friendships with other people there are millions of people in this country and around the world who are cheating or have cheated…again, u talk like he was Mark Jackson down in Boston as for your other post, there is a lot of fanfare about Udoka…a thread about the Rockets interviewing Ime was already made, maybe u have the poster who made it on ignore or something https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/rockets-to-interview-ime-udoka-on-wednesday.319441/
This is not a subjective thing, ask a psychologist or a CBT. It's not some woo-woo theory, they teach this ****. Leading a company has many responsibilities that are different than Head Coaching in the NBA, but in all cases since the beginning of time and till the end of time, a person who is bad at managing relationships is bad at managing relationships. Whether that's with the spouse or child or media or players, there is only one very specific place in your brain that does that, and if that part of your brain is afflicted with trauma and insecurity, you will simply no be able to hide it very long. The solution to being bad at work relationships is the same as the one for being bad at any relationship. The therapy is the same. The steps are the same. The baggage those people hold are all roughly the same. Believe me dude, I've been you and thought "it's not possible that all these CEO's bla bla bla". That only appears that way because of what we know and don't know about the details of their life, because people who are bad at relationships also have a strong tendency to hide it (poorly). It would be an insane risk to take to say that he was good at the honeymoon phase of his job, so that means he can handle it. I hope the Rockets are making use of this not so modern science. Thanks for linking to the thread, I definitely don't have AleperenSengun on ignore, I must have somehow missed it while scanning the board.
it is not AlperenSengun that made the thread, it’s ATW because someone cheated on their spouse, that means they’re incapable of maintaining relationships of any sort is just outlandish and ridiculous
It's a fact. A person who is more willing than everyone else to lie to protect themselves, that's who they are. A person who chooses pleasure even though it risks the entire organization and team, that's who they are. It's their principle about relationships, and it was formed when they were much younger and they never addressed it. If his relationship was bad (Ime and Nia), he could have left but he might have convinced himself he did it for the kid rather than for himself >> that's deflecting blame. A blame deflector is always a blame deflector. You're doing yourself a disservice going by your anecdotal assessment. Do a small dive into some scientific literature, it won't take long to change your mind. I'm telling you, I know what it looks like to you because that's what it looked like to me before. Ime wouldn't last long in a job. Anyway we've both shared everything we got. I'm jumping into the other thread.
