I'm not sure what the point is of having Diaz on the team if you are just going to give crucial pinch hit opportunities to a completely trash 3rd string catcher that has no business being on the roster anyway. I have my complaints with Dusty but generally I think most of the fan complaints are overblown. Dusty (or whoever) has been nails in the playoffs so it's a wash, but the way he is managing this current team this season I just can't disregard the stupidity. Pinch hitting Salazar was up there with La Russa calling for an intentional walk on a 2 strike count. I just can't defend this moronic nonsense anymore.
I just keep going through that stupid AB in my head and the only thing I can think is that he liked the lefty matchup better against the slider...? Which is also moronic bc Romano has been way tougher on lefties throughout his career, something that Kalas immediately alluded to... And it's not like your pinch hitting for a lefty and that lefty is Kyle Tucker. It's Cesar ****ing Salazar. Seriously, I think Dusty thought, well L on R and hey we need to get this kid some ABs!
