We didn't plan to have all those cap space, including buying out John wall and others.. Just to blow most of it to Porzingis

Did you all repress the memories of Yao and TMac taking turns being injured, always having to say "if healthy" when discussing our chances, then finally looking like we were going to be champs in the playoffs ... even with 1 star player already being out injured ... only for the other one to get injured after upsetting the favorites in game 1?

I wouldn't look at Porzingis as a guy to lead us to the promised land if we signed him. He would just be a stopgap. Always have to keep in mind where we are at--we are probably not making the playoffs next season, and we are probably not contending for a championship for bare minimum two more seasons (probably more). Signing free agents this year is about giving the youngsters a taste of winning, mentoring them up, and putting a better product on the floor while we develop our very young core.

I agree with you which is why Porzingis is definitely not the option again because he will be missing for half the season whilst taking up the majority of our cap.

I would barely pay attention to the Rockets if they traded Green and picks for Harden and Lillard. The combined salaries would approach and eventually exlipse $100 million dollars annually. For 2 guys that were never good on defense in their primes and as they age more would eventually make our guards this bad defense this year look like Gary Payton and Jordan on defense in comparison.

No offense but that is an absolutely horrible idea.

same RAPTOR that has FVV and Derrick White in the top 20, Brunson 30th, and Jokic ahead of Embiid and JJJr defensively

I’m sorry, but most of these advanced stats like RAPTOR or whatever other combo of letters they come up with are complete garbage

The problem is that most contenders are going to be cash-strapped. You offer him a little more than the mid-level exception. If he wants to take less to go to a contender, let him. I'm not necessarily thinking that the Rockets should (that injury history is pretty significant), but I think that's the approach a team like the Rockets should take if they have interest. He's certainly a good enough player to warrant consideration.

A guy who is injured a lot can be a good thing. He does good things while playing, then sits on the bench for 10 games talking to guys about what he's seeing on the court. Young players take a back seat to a better player, then they get more minutes during his injuries without having to actually bench anyone. Everybody wins. You just have to make sure the money is right and you don't have unrealistic expectations going in.

We'll get him if we have to trade away Sengun so that the Sengun fans will have another Euro to crush on.

I just think bigs who can't defend are a liability. And he can't defend at all anymore.

Also, it's amazing to me this guy is still only 28 years old. It feels like he's been in the league for a million years.

If he’ll take the same exact contract as KPJ. I’d do it.

Huh? Injuries have sapped his ability to defend well in space, but he’s one of the league’s best rim protectors. He’s definitely still a good defender. It’s not hard to build a top defense around a big who can hardly defend outside of the paint (see: Lopez and Gobert).

Instantly becoming the West version of the Wizards and a Mavs version without Luka but with Head honcho.

Elite defender? Within 3 feet of the basket he is very good, but he is really bad at switches, terrible on the perimeter and unplayable in transition.

There’s a reason Dallas didn’t keep him. They desperately needed players to put around Doncic.

Porzingas is going to be hunted down and isolated and exploited in the playoffs.
