the CC is only for the 8 tickets, for the regular 4 pack, you can just show up without signing up for anything. sister has done it in the past and she didn't have to sign up for anything for the 4 pack .

Seems like this number was 90-mph just a couple of days ago in articles. He's "up to" what he averaged for most of his time in San Francisco. It is almost like he hit the ball hard on average for 7 games, but in the last 6 games he's not even hitting the ball as hard as he did last year.

I really wish I could see what others see in Dubon. I see a good defensive IF (he played OF good in 2020 according to stats) that doesn't hit the ball hard often enough* to be a good hitter unless he places the ball perfectly away from fielders (which he has been doing). Dubon is a good line drive hitter, but without walks or power, it is just really hard to get on base a lot or drive a lot of people in from 1st base.

*I don't care too much about average EV. I care about hard contact in the air (line drives and low launch angle flies). I do worry about Altuve as his EVs were down except when smacked the **** out of the ball over the fence last year (which is really weird).

Yes I-45. They're not physical tix. You fill out some info on a tablet and you need the MLB Ballpark app and they're delivered before the end of the day. :)

Oh interesting. My sister I think got physical ones last time. Nice to know they are moving into the digital age, haha. Are they the section 400 tickets? Just curious. They were last time my sister got them for us .

The answer to "what do others see in Dubon" is:

With a 3 person bench ( after b/u c is accounted for) versatility is extremely valuable.

Dubon is certainly not a perfect player and likely never be a starter, but he has several positive characteristics.

    1) he can play defense at 6 positions at above replacement level.

    2) he Ks very infrequently w/ a very high contact rate.

    3) he has above average speed and arm (even if not far above average)

    4) he understands himself and does not do too much or try to do what he can't.

In 2023 MLB he is a very important member of a winning 26 man roster.

You seem to be seeing what Dubon should be doing, or most specifically, what you think he can't do. Who cares if he's not going to drive a lot of people in from 1st base? Other people are seeing a guy who's adding some value to the bottom of the lineup (or the top the last few games) and helped the team out while one of their best players is injured. Maybe he can't keep it up the rest of the season - but who cares? He's not on the team to be an offense superstar who's getting on base and hitting for power all the time.

He's doing enough to keep the Astros afloat and has been a very pleasant surprise for us Astros fans (when Altuve comes back, going to need his bat in CF). It's really all about getting healthy at the right time as the other AL West teams have to rely on depth, when injuries inevitably happen, they don't have.

    Bravo Dubon.

There are a lot of people* that are seeing a lot more than a guy who's adding some value to the bottom of the lineup (or the top the last few games) and helped the team out while one of their best players is injured.

*Edit: I should say there has been a lot of vocal support for Dubon being more than he is without many others disagreeing.

Im happy with what he has been doing, but he’s not really doing it from the bottom of the lineup anymore. I realize you pointed this out, but it’s not just a few games. With this hot streak, Dusty will tattoo him in to the top of the lineup until Altuve gets back.

    1) Replacement level is more the overall offense and defense package. He's better than replacement level and a valuable member of the bench at 2B. I have no issue with him starting when a player is hurt.
    2) Not striking out with a very high contact rate is good when the strikeouts are replaced with hits and/or walks. For Dubon, swinging and making contact with everything means he's walking less and grounding/lining out more.
    3) Agree
    4) He doesn't make too many mistakes.

If people see him as an above replacement level bench player, I'm good with that view. I just keep seeing comps to Gwynn and Ichiro, talk of his improved EV (which is basically almost back to his career average), Dubon batting leadoff with very few people questioning it (I haven't seen this until today), etc.

The responses to my post have been reasonable views of Dubon for the most part, but I didn't see the same responses when Dubon was getting hyped up for an incredibly small sample. If they were made by others, I apologize for missing them.

I made the comp to Ichiro and Gwynn showing that you can be successful with that style of hitting. I wasn't saying that he will ever be as good as 2 of the most prolific hitters in baseball history.

Dubon's ceiling is an everyday player on a contending team. I think he can maintain a .290 avg and .750 OPS hitter for a season because it's not much higher that his averages for the first 2 seasons of his career. He also plays above average defense at all the positions that he has played. I've heard he was the emergency catcher for the Giants, which means he can probably play every position on the field for an inning.

I was a big proponent of releasing Dubon before the season, but if he can keep his OBA where it is now or even a little lower, he is fine as a short term replacement for Altuve. We have lots of power in the lineup. Not everyone has to be a power hitter.

The thing is, to be successful with that style of hitting, one has to be Ichiro or Gwynn or really close to it as there is not much room for error. While it is possible Dubon has a random year when he posts good numbers, it is highly unlikely he can maintain a 0.290 BA and 0.750 OPS unless the ball gets really juiced again (i.e., a 0.750 OPS now is a lot better than a 0.750 OPS in 2019). His OPS is already down to 0.750 after being scorching hot for 7 games.

On above average defense, he's not played above average defense in CF in any amount of time since 2020 according to stats, and he wasn't above average last year there. On the corners, his bat isn't close to being good enough to play there with the reduced opportunites for defense (i.e., he shouldn't play OF unless it is as a defensive sub with the lead...and even then, he should not replace a better defensive CF in CF).
