The fact the Texans offered a 1st to move up to 1 is further disturbing to why they won that Colts game in the damn first place I’ll move on I promise
One proposed trade scenario involved the Texans potentially sending the second overall pick and the No. 12 selection to the Bears in exchange for the top overall pick. Another proposal exchanged was the Texans possibly sending a 2024 first-round pick to the Bears for the pick, according to league sources. The conversations eventually stalled out over a disconnect over trade values as the Bears moved on, with a hefty blockbuster trade that netted the Carolina Panthers’ ninth pick, a 2024 first-round pick and wide receiver D.J. Moore. All of that prologue leads the Texans to where they are now, exploring potential trade-back scenarios involving the No. 2 overall pick. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young was coveted by the Texans, but is now regarded as a virtual lock to be drafted by the Panthers, according to multiple league sources. The Texans are not currently expected to draft Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud, who has also visited the AFC South franchise, according to sources, and Stroud could slide a bit within the top 10 picks of the first round. If the Texans stay at No. 2, they could wind up going for an edge rusher and have high opinions of Alabama star Will Anderson Jr., who’s regarded as one of the cleanest prospects in the draft in terms of skill, character and health, or Texas Tech defensive end Tyree Wilson, an intriguing player who’s coming off a foot injury. The idea of moving back to stockpile even more draft capital is an attractive scenario. Among the trade-up candidates: the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 7 overall. Should the Texans move back, they would still likely have the option of adding a quarterback. The Texans haven’t committed to necessarily drafting one, though. They have thoroughly scouted all of the top quarterbacks, including Young, Stroud, visiting with Kentucky quarterback Will Levis and Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker and had a Zoom meeting with no visit or workout with Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson, according to sources. They’ve done their homework on the quarterbacks, including University of Houston quarterback Clayton Tune who’s ranked as a middle-round draft target.
Im still at a lost for words reading this… what a time to be a Texans fan.. what can go wrong.. will go wrong
Draft Kings Will Anderson +150 Levis +210 Tyree Wilson +300 Stroud +350 Fan Duel Will Anderson +200 Stroud +250 Levis +300 At this point, I’m glad to say no one knows what tf will happen with pick 2. Kind of like the surprise.
Someone mentioned 7 might be the earliest trade back spot. Problem is you will likely miss on Anderson, Wilson, and Carter so it’s guys like Gonzales or Skoronski.
I disagree - maybe years ago, when they paid top picks tens of millions of dollars. But the current rookie salary structure makes busts much easier to swallow. The Jets improved by 3 wins in Wilson's second season and are now poised to be a playoff contender. That pick hasn't set their franchise back at all. Maybe they lost a year? Now! If your top QB busts *and the rest of your drafts suck*... yeah, that'll set you back. But you can move on from bad QBs within 4 years, max, and not have it destroy your cap.
the biggest position in football and they just want to ignore it. I get not drafting a guy they love love but daniel jones has way more impact on winning games than TJ Watt does even if TJ is way better lol
What all this means is what we all thought. Young was the prize and the rest of the QBs are not worth a top pick. The Texans absolutely screwed everything up winning that last game. Now they are in desperation mode trying to trade down and pick up extra picks without dropping far enough to miss out on Wilson and Anderson. Problem is no one wants to trade up for Stroud, Levis or AR. Prediction: Nick stands pat and takes Wilson.
The problem with that is that when ARZ and the Jets move on from their QBs, they have better alternatives after that year. ARZ got Kyler and the Jets will get Aaron Rodgers. What is our door #2 for us?
I'm not advocating for ABC or XYZ. Only that the idea of drafting a QB early - and him flopping - will break your franchise is an antiquated idea. If you draft one and he's bad... you're likely going to be in position to draft another one - and that's no longer cost-prohibitive. The Cardinals are a prime example of that idea. They drafted Murray one year after drafting Rosen. IOW, in this current financial environment, you *can* afford to take a flier on a QB and it not be the death knell it used to be.
Charlie Campbell, who's been an super insanely accurate mock draft guy the past couple of years, said ARZ loves Tyree Wilson, even more than Will Anderson https://walterfootball.com/nflrumors
