Following the New Mexico story of the dangers of a mixed up address. In this case the homeowner came to the doorway armed and shot someone who just got an address mixed up. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ralph-yarl-kansas-city-teen-shooting-wrong-house/ Kansas City police probe shooting of Black teen who went to wrong house to pick up his younger brothers Kansas City, Mo. — Kansas City police are working to quickly prepare evidence for the Clay County prosecutor in the shooting of a Black teenager who was trying to pick up his younger brothers from a friend's house Thursday. "I want everyone to know that I am listening," Police Chief Stacey Graves said Sunday at a news conference at Kansas City police headquarters downtown, "and I understand the concern we are receiving from the community." The Kansas City Star reported the 16-year-old boy, who family members have identified online as Ralph Yarl, was hospitalized Thursday night after he was shot while trying to pick up his younger twin brothers. Police said he went to the wrong house and was shot there. Officials would not confirm the number of times the homeowner shot the victim or where his injuries were. Police haven't identified the shooter or his race. Information that officials have now does not point to the crime being racially motivated, but Graves said that aspect also remains under investigation. More at link
It's too bad the kid didn't have a gun, he could have shot the homeowner first and declared self defense
Mixing up addresses is not good especially nowadays. Ring cameras help, you can answer the door without going to the door. It’s usually a mix up for the neighbors next door in our hood.
Tough kid. I hope he makes a full recovery. The mistaken address looks like an apartment complex. There's no reason to have shot the kid unless he was making forced entry, and if he was, a neighbor would've heard something. It happened right before 10pm and people would've been home. It seems like the victim statement is the red tape before police can arrest the shooter. That's some bureaucratic BS.
I hope so Dude deserves to go to prison for a long time Honestly - This home owner should have been met by these cops: https://bbs.clutchfans.net/threads/nm-police-goto-wrong-house-kill-owner…arrest-wife.319416/ Body camera footage shows police in New Mexico going to wrong address and fatally shooting homeowner https://www.yahoo.com/news/body-camera-footage-shows-police-041256883.html Rocket River

SMDH, another life lost just like that These people should never have access to guns "The group turned down a driveway on Patterson Hill Road in Hebron, but quickly realized their error and attempted to leave, according to Murphy. “It’s a very rural area, it’s dirt roads, there’s not a lot of cellular service or any type of internet,” the sheriff said. But as they were leaving, the homeowner stepped outside onto his porch and fired two bullets at the vehicle, police said. One of those bullets struck Gillis.
I know people who won't open the door when a black person is there because they are afraid of being robbed. On the one hand, I understand the need for security... and the crime stats, but on the other hand, it's unfair to paint with a broad brush. The ultimate solution is better family values, more employment, and more educational opportunities.

Sad. Might be a hate crime. Might just be an 85 year old whose cognitive abilities have severely declined. Might be some combination of the two.

What does that have to do with this situation? Kid wasn't doing anything wrong, just happen to have the wrong address and be black. Instead of just letting the kid know, said owner attempted to double tap the poor kid. No one should ever has to die over pressing a doorbell. family values? Christian values? Those values haven't been stopping racism.
