It is a floor argument, I don't care about the floor.....as long as we have our shot at Wemby the other doesn't matter, it is inconsequential in the difference in value, and I don't care for any pick besides Wemby....i get the argument - I just don't care...it is hardly any difference to trade 5 or 6, or 7......

I don't want anyone from this draft if we don't get Wemby. And even he is 4-6 years away from being a good NBA player.

This is false - no championship contenders are built through only the draft it is a combination of draft (Which we have done) and trading/signing of Free Agents.

We have drafted, if we get Wemby fine, if not we need to trade some young players for proven better players...

There is no such thing as patience in the NBA - there are no teams that built through the draft, they all added significant pieces once they identified their core.

Ours is probably Green or Porter, Jabari, Sengun - the rest are completely tradeable to get better - so now we should be looking to trade and if we have to give up one of KPJ or Green you do it......

Trading is the name of the game - today's game this isn't baseball which is completely different and has better control over their own players for more years.

The draft floor debate is basically a small scale version of the “only one team wins the championship anyways, who cares about anything else along the way. If we don’t win the championship it’s all pointless” argument.

Which is fine, sport is for entertainment not logic, at the end of the day who really cares.

Generally, takes 3 draft picks to build a sustainable core:

    GS- Curry, Klay, Draymond
    Denver- Jokic, Murray, MPJ
    Memphis- Morant, Jackson, Bane
    Phoenix- Booker, Ayton, Bridges (pre-trade)
    Boston- Smart, Tatum, Brown

All these contenders have built through the draft. The evidence is right in our faces.

This third top 5 pick is our last core piece. You do not trade it for anything less than a top 15 player. Desperately want win-now players? That’s what the cap space is for.

I think if the rockets trade Green, KJ Martin Tate + 2 first for Brown Prichard Hauser

Then what ever rockets vets they can sign with money Cam Johnson, Jakob Poeltl , Shake Milton would transform team alot.

    C- Segun Poeltl
    PF - Jabari - Poeltl
SF - Cam Johnson Milton Hauser
    SG - Brown KPJ Milton
    PG - Henderson Prichard

Like that 9 man rotation? ;)

    Hopefully the rockets get Henderson.

Maybe you can also give Jalen green and Jabari 4-6 years to develop ;)

Honestly think we do need one more draft's worth of talent. If we're trading "expendable players" away I would be more in favor of doing it to move up in the draft than to get veterans. Tate, KPJ, and KJ Martin could potentially be traded away to move up the Clippers pick and/or our own pick (if necessary). I also wouldn't hesitate to trade away future picks like some of our Brooklyn haul for this purpose, although it would also be fine to save them for future deals once we actually are ready to contend (not this season nor the next one, likely).

Three nice drafts of 2 good players each (Green, Sengun, Smith, Eason, and whatever two we pick up in this class) should set us up very well. Then it's just a matter of giving each player at least a few years to develop before we decide whether they are going to be long-term fixtures of the franchise.

but i've heard a particular poster say we need to win now... meaning next year...
they even said they would keep kpj over scoot Henderson based on this premise...
so if ur telling me Wemby is 4-6 years away...
wouldnt that poster being looking to trade Wemby...?
seeing as he's so far out and we need to 'win now'...

    ;) lol

its a matter of a proven commodity vs potential...

and what is better for the team depends on their present construct...

we need some vets to lead - not another youngster trying to find his way...

when we drafted and traded Rudy Gay (#8 pick) we had a team and wanted to upscale - not wait to see if the rook is gonna be a superstar or a bust...

Teams just don’t give away superstars. As we’ve seen, teams will give a superstar whatever they want. Because disgruntled stars leave at their request based on their leverage. You get superstars in the draft, the top of the draft.

So trying to build via trade or free agency, is a difficult scenario. It’s likely a continuous uphill struggle.

All stars are generally selected in the top of the 1st round. So, trading for the sake of trading out of the 1st round if it isn’t top 3 pick, is a thought provoking move.

I know some folks are getting old, me including. But you gota to biotita right! Patience and efficient is the route.

I rather take BM, just like how I wanted Paolo over Jabari.

I didn't want to say it but it seems some people are scared they will never see the rockets good again and have no patience. Be healthy guys and watch the rockets dominate down the road.

Man, how cool would a Wemby & Walker draft be for Houston? Of course they would have to move #20, some rotation players (KJ and/or Tate) and a future pick to get in range but that would solidify the front court depth.

    P.G. - Harden? / TyTy
    S.G. - Green / KPJ / Christopher
    S.F. - Smith / Eason (Class of '22)
    P.F. - Wemby / Walker (Class of '23)
    ..C - Sengun / Garuba (Class of '21)

No because Wemby at his size and skill level is unique...Scoot Henderson is a dime a dozen.

So you take a shot on unique and hope he doesn't break like a number 2 pencil.
