And that's probably one of the reasons why Morey flat out said that publicly used defensive stats are worthless and how he had to create his own. There is no way anyone who watches our games comes away thinking that Sengun is a better defender than Bari.
I watched most of our games. Sengun looks like the better paint defender, but worse perimeter defender to me, compared to last year's version of Bari.
I've said as much. When guys are sagging off him by 10+ feet and clogging the paint AND THEN Sengun is still looking to pass - thats a problem. He needs to take those shots. Hopefully the next coach will "allow him" to fire away. A FT line jumper will also work marvels for the team as a whole. 71% FT shooter doesnt necessarily mean a sure thing in developing an NBA 3 pt shot, but it should be good enough.
Rocket fans are craving for Rudy Gobert? Thats news. On the topic if Harden comes back then a guy like Nic Claxton would be amazing as your defensive stopper/rim runner. Perspectives I guess.
Yeah Im in my mid 40s. I saw the inside out game first hand. I've also seen the sport evolve. So "absolutely" means in the present when the last time it happened was a decade ago? Okay! "building around the players you have" is how you get stuck in a decade long rebuild via ego. 3&D works.
Hyperbole is not really your friend when box scores are only a few key strokes away. edit: this should really get your panties in a bunch ---- Nic Claxton 132 ORTG/108DRTG
Thats the irony of your stance when you guys parade around spouting those "advanced" stats for Sengun. Talk about a walking contradiction. Claxton is among the group mentioned for DPOY. If Im going to carry a center that cant shoot I'd prefer one who plays great defense, can play above the rim and doesnt need X amount of post touches to be effective.
Was that the game we won? Nevermind we lost both of them. Game 1 = Alpie 21/12/2 Claxton 18/10/2 Game 2 = Alpie 16/12/2 Claxton 18/13/1 Talk about getting abused. Someone call 911! (Abused was Jalen yamming on Claxton with both hands on separate plays - I can subscribe to that)
LOL. I have never used any advanced stats to praise or criticize any player. Obviously you'd prefer Claxton over Sengun since playing Claxton would give your precious KPJ the opportunity to waste even more possessions per game than he already does.
How does you clamoring for Sengun to HAVE TO develop a 3-point shot while having a hard on for Claxton go together with the fact that Claxton has made a grand total of 2 threes, out of 14 attempts, in a 4 year career, for a 3-point % of .143?
They're two different scenarios. You're reducing this down to a false dichotomy. If this team is strapped to Sengun then he needs to develop a 3 point shot because he handles the ball so much. Look at the USG% between the guys. Claxton gets his numbers from hustle and rim running. He doesnt take anything away from the tempo or pace of a game he actually helps in those regards contrary to Sengun.
