For months now I've been told by 90% of the posters here that KPj is not a Point Guard. I'm of the 5% that say let him continue and you will get a version of Marcus Smart...about 5% say keep him but move him to the bench. KPj sat the final game in order for the Rockets to use less payroll in the form of a bonus if KPj plays 60 games. I want you to know that the agent for KPj was involved in the discussions. There is a silent verbal agreement there that KPj is in the Rockets future......at least this season upcoming. Rockets would not get any FA's if the Rockets then trade KPj. That agent will be singing like a canary. No Free Agent would trust the Rockets. That and people state KPj is a head case. Might throw a burrito at a coach or teammates. Too much chance that no team will take him. Supposedly we have to attach 1st round picks to KPj to move him. _________ Tate is a smaller version of Ben Simmons. 6'4" non shooting 3-pt shooter. At least Ben Simmons is an elite defender. __________ Jabari is the new prototypical center of the future. He is Claxton with a 3-pt shot. Possibility of elite defender and spot shooter from anywhere.....eventually. --------------- I'm not trading Jalen Green __________ Kenyn gets 18 points without running any plays for him. __________ Sorry, Sengun is the only one with value I'm willing to give up. He is too slow to be at the dunker spot. He doesn't shoot well enough to have defenders guard 15 feet out. The best post up guys in the league do that around 6 times at the the most per game. Not a good defender Doesn't run the court well. But Apache, Zach Edey doesn't run the court well either, yes.....but I'm only playing Zach about 20 minutes....if he plays vs Jokic, Embiid, KAT, Vuc, Valanciunas. 5 guys. The rest of the games I'm running Claxton-Jabari. Claxton was 2nd in the NBA in blocks. Most near the rim. Edey in is 7'4"......blocking shots without even leaving the ground. Sengun doesn't have that luxury. And most importantly, Sengun fans won't let the organization only play Sengun 20 minutes, and only vs Jokic, Embiid, KAT, Vuc, Valanciunas. Edey contract would be based on 2nd round pick. Paying him about $900 thousand to $1.2M......Sengun gets paid about $3.5M I believe. Harder to sit Sengun. And you can't trade him outright.... his contract will never net good enough talent back for that amount of money. That's why you attach Tate/Christopher/TyTy. Waive Nix, Boban. You can trade anyone in your scenario, but I doubt it works your way. Conley, Rubio, Kyrie are older than 30 but will still get big money. You will be surprised.
Such a knee jerk post Harden is known to choke in the playoffs lets see what happens in the next round with a more formidable opponent
You seem to have written Sengun off as another slow white guy. Most everybody else sees something special with him. There is just not enough evidence to me that he won’t be a star. I also don’t agree with you that the Sabonis, Jokic teams can’t win. I don’t believe there is a GM in the league that would rather have Claxton than Sengun. We do need better outside shooting, but I think the jury is still out on Segun in that respect.
Probably. I got drunk at a crawfish boil and posted this after I got home. I woke up this morning and realized I started a thread. Smh
He ain't coming here has all the losing got you people lost?. Remember this team traded him because he gave up on it. Why would he come here to lose more? Lolw Why would stone flip to new era just to bring back the past. Why not give Kyle Lowry a max too. Remember Green is Kobe. Shhhh...
I'm sure you are joking. If Harden gave Philly a discount to win the ring.... currently paying him $33M I could see Harden giving us a discount as well. Due $35M in a player option next year. $38M would compensate him for opting out of Philly and coming to a no state tax state. Basically a raise. Where his mom and family are living. His favorite ladies of the night. Harden is quoted as saying, "my only regret when leaving Houston was, not winning a championship for the city."
Maybe NBA tankathon has him number 47 on their board. I've watched him run the court.....I don't think he is slower than Sengun. Or Kessler.
As I've said many times, having watched the NBA since the 70's, the NBA deliberately made rule changes to hurt the post up games because it felt the Olajuwon, Ewing, Barkley, Shaq plop-plop game was too boring. I'm old school and liked it, but the rules were changed anyway. Unless the rules are changed again, it will still favor the perimeter games. The last 20 years are evidence that the Big- Bigs don't win it. Yes, they power their ways to MVP.....but tend to lose by the second round. Nuggets are number one seed.....they will bow out early. Embiid as well. KAT will be gone as well. The regular season is a grind it out marathon.....but the playoffs turn Into a sprint. Don't believe me, keep watching the playoffs. AD and JJJ are not in the Jokic, Embiid or Sengun mold. Keep studying the game (playoffs).....and you will understand. People like Olajuwon, Barkley, Shaq keep saying the game is the same; but it's not. Zone defenses allow players to set up half way between the post player and the perimeter player. That was not the case when they played. Guy like Starks, Harper had to commit to the double team. Either stick with their assignment or double Olajuwon.....now they get to by in the area. The more people think like you the more I'm encouraged to believe there are still suckers out there to move Sengun to. Dwight Howard and others kept thinking D12 was still important in the post for way longer than he should have been as well. Hawks were suckers followed by the Hornets (coach Steve Clifford). Yes an NBA coach couldn't recognize that before a non NBA coach like me could.
i would think he could run the court fine I’m not convinced he wouldn’t look like Boban trying to switch on defense though. I would be cool with buying a late 2nd and taking a chance on him but not with a first rounder.
I’m highly skeptical that there’s anything to the guy actually wanting to return here for what would have to be some sort of “hometown discount,” considering how he left, but healthy, he’d immediately give us one of the best point guards in the league, and a lot more than double digit assists. It’s intriguing, but I don’t expect anything to come of it. Likely an effort by his agent to bump up his next deal with the Sixers. The way he played in game one of their series, I doubt if he needs the bump.
No I never said use a first to get him. And ive said use him vs KAT, Embiid, Jokic, Valancuinas, Vuc, Sengun. With them you can play drop coverage vs. With Sengun Edey is just going to stand there flat footed and block everything....just like when you see Sengun go against Embiid. Embiid just stands there not biting on the fakes. That's the beauty of a second rounder getting $900,000. Sit him often. You can't do that with Sengun. 16th pick has to play. 34 minutes or more every game. I will have Jabari and the NBA #2 shot blocker in Clayton, defending the paint most other games. With Tari as well.....maybe Wemby. Garuba using his 6 fouls to go along with Edey and his 6 fouls to lean on players. I don't need Edey for non scoring bigs like Steven Adams or Kessler
I'm not saying Sabonis can't win, but he is fit and trim and moves well. Just an FYi: Vucevic (Chicago) vs Raps / Jakob Poeltl (36 minutes) -4 (+/-) Vuc / (39 minutes) -6 (+/-) vs Miami / Bam Bam (37 minutes) +16 (+/-) Vuc / (35 minutes) -23 (+/-) Out of Playoffs ___________________ Valanciunas ( Pelicans) vs OKC (Jaylin Williams started.....smaller player but 6'10") / (32 minutes) + 20 (+/-) Valanciunas / (30 minutes) / -6 (+/-) Out of Playoffs ________________ Jokic vs KAT coming up. Gobert & KAT were too much for Jaylin Williams. It's either Clippers or Suns who knock out the Nuggets in the 2nd round In my opinion. We shall see.
He’s an NBA player I think, it’s just so hard to have the lateral quickness at that size to demand a large role in today’s game. 20 or 30 years ago he could be a 20/10 guy.
This true. I see him as a young Marc Gasol. I was more concerned with Edey running the length of the court more than lateral quickness. But that's my concern with Sengun lateral quickness and running up and down the court. From his highlights I felt his lateral was fine as he moves to block shots. I like his footwork in posting up. Uses his wide body to shield the defender well. Soft hands catching passes near the rim and lobs. Lobs are something Sengun gives us none of. Layups with left or right hand. Hook shots with left and right hand as well. Olajuwon claims soccer as a youth helped give him quickness and footwork as an NBA player. I would need to see him against NBA talent. Doesn't it strike people as odd though that Luka Garza was college player of the year and a bench player at the pro level. That Embiid/Jokic are MVP caliber during the regular season but don't win championships. Harden gets grilled as an MVP who couldn't win a championship. Always needed more talent around him. Jokic is a #1 seed and people are already making excuses for him. Obviously Jokic needs 3 or 4 all stars to win a championship. Obviously. So does KPj.
my son is on a ECNL team for soccer and played on several AAU teams for bball. Both pretty elite for youth sports. It's interesting watching him let both feed off each other. It's like being decent at both makes him play differently in both than a typical player if that makes sense. He plays football as well but he is pretty lost with that i guess.
