If we hire Vogel, then we are not serious about building a championship team. He had a youngish team in Indy and the best he could do was get to the ECF in an extremely weak Eastern Conference.

Vogel has never done anything to justify faith in his coaching abilities other than winning a title with Lebron James. LBJ has made a lot of coaches look really good.

We will be looking for a new coach in two seasons.

Mike Brown turned SAC around in a flick of a sack. This hire is extremely important for us. My emotions say Vogel sucks, but i would have been against hiring Mike Brown as well so i just have to trust Stone isn't stoned when he makes the decision or else he might get stoned by all the Alpi fans.

Say what you want about the Lakers, but they have 18 titles and god knows how many finals appearances, including 6 in the last twenty years. How many do we have?

Yeah I would probably STFU honestly. Seems most Rockets fans and sadly, our current ownership, don’t know **** about basketball.

He does? What makes you say that? Was that why the Hornets sucked?

JVG will never coach in this league again, unless his brother buys a team.

It's sincerely crazy, actually crazy, to think this team is one coach and one offseason from competing for the Larry O'Brien.

I like Vogel . Did a Good job with young Indiana team . Managed to win a title .

My expectations for the next coach is not title.

I think Vogel will definitely get us to the playoffs next year or the year after .

I believe you have to go experience it to be a contender.

he may or may not be the guy to get us a championship, but who knows when that could be …

depending on other players we bring in … that’s a factor you need to consider in your coaching fit

His stint with Orlando scares me. His stint with Indiana is a positive. He won the bubble championship with Lebron. He’d improve our defense, but I question how well he can connect with our group of super young players. Wouldn’t be at the top of my list but we could certainly do worse. Underwhelming. He’s a good coach but we need to hit a home run.

Remember how this board pissed on D'Antoni when he was under discussion? I have every confidence that our projections of coach performance are just as accurate today as they were then.

D’Antoni was better than most fans expected. Good enough to win a championship. But certainly had his flaws.

Sincerely curious. Is there any regulations from the players association on how soon coaching staff can interact with the players in the off-season?

Wait a minute, did you just suggest on a public forum, that Lebron James made baskets because of Frank Vogel?

Dantoni has won a lot of games in this league. He has won 50 or more games like 7 times in his career, and 60 plus games three times. That is pretty dang good. His winning percentage is .560, but that is misleading because early in his career he coached a really bad Denver team, and then got stuck coaching really bad Knicks and Lakers teams for 4 seasons.

Vogel isn’t perfect, and wasn’t in LA either. He did however get them to defend at a very high level and they won a title. As far as replacing him, I’m sure some of that was his fault, but most of it was the fault of the front office and an overly meddlesome superstar.

As for Ty Lue, I would gladly take him. While he has some issues with staying organized, he is possibly the smartest coach in the NBA. No one in the league makes better adjustments than Lue. He badly out coached and maneuvered Kerr and his assistants in the Finals when the Cavs won the title.

A lot goes in to being a great coach. Lue isn’t the best at organization and not the best at development, but he is the best at adjustments and his players don’t walk all over him either.

As for Vogel - I agree with you that it’s cool we are at a point where we can discuss a number of qualified candidates. I’m not sure how interested Udoka is, and I don’t think Toronto wants to give Nurse (under contract) away for free - but we will see.
