At this point I’d be fine with the robot cops on black mirror at least there’s some restraint and common sense there. whays worse is we as the tax payer will foot the multi millions settlement for their incompetence and murder here , speaking of which why aren’t they behind bars?
Yep. Imagine a surgeon who does a surgery on the wrong patient that results in that patient's death...
Terrible story. Unrelated, but when we did our big road trip through the USA 15 years ago, we were driving through Farmington and just could not get out. No matter what exit we took, it would just loop around and bring us back into town. It happened so many times that we joked that we were in the Twilight Zone. We just cannot escape Farmington! Still joke about it today.
It's a tragic mistake, but if it's true that the homeowner pointed a gun at the officials, I don't blame the officers for shooting him. The prevalence of guns makes these kinds of tragic mistakes more likely. Body camera footage shows shooting of Robert Dotson by Farmington Police (lcsun-news.com) "The body camera footage shows officers mistakenly approaching the Dotson house at 5305 Valley View Ave. in Farmington instead of the house at 5308 Valley View Ave., where the domestic violence call originated shortly before midnight on April 5. The exterior lights of the Dotson home were illuminated as officers walked up to and past the numbers 5305, which were posted in large figures on the home’s garage at the front of the property, without realizing their error. One of the officers knocks on the front door three times, and identifies the group as Farmington police at least three times. A short discussion ensued in which the officers apparently realize they are at the wrong address. “Oh, s---,” one of the officers said, chuckling in the footage. The officers then began to walk away, only to turn back toward the door when it opened a little more than two minutes after the encounter began as a figure appeared in the doorway. One of the officers yelled, “Hey, hey!” and several rounds are fired at the figure, who falls to the ground immediately. The officers retreated into the yard to assess the situation, and after 50 seconds, the voice of a woman – apparently that of Dotson’s wife – could be heard from inside the house. Seconds later there is another exchange of gunfire between officers and a second figure in the house. After a pause of 10 to 15 seconds, the officers identify themselves as Farmington police while the woman’s screams continue. Backup units arrive at the scene a short time later. Hebbe said a slow-motion analysis of the body camera footage shows Robert Dotson opening the door with his left hand and holding a gun in his right hand. He said Dotson then held the weapon in both hands and pointed it at officers before he was shot."
This is why you should never ever point a gun at the police. If this man just had listened he'd still be alive. Follow their directions.
Moral of the story ... When armed intruders invade your home, shoot first and ask questions later? Standing your ground is a thing, right?
police going to the wrong house and that person ends up dead is a story I’ve seen many times so nothing shocking or surprising here a lot of the time, the person answering had no clue what was going on but had opened the door with a gun in their hand since these things usually happen late at night and I guess they think it’s some possible intruder police lie about everything so I’ll wait to see video evidence before believing any of their claims…they lie as naturally as one breathes oxygen
they knocked on his door... so many options but he chose violence when he pointed then gun. feel less pissed off, less angry, and he'd be alive.
Answering the door in the middle of the night; maybe a lot to crime there. The 2nd amendment exists for a reason. Even his wife didn’t realize they were cops . soemthint is off
Should at least be negligent homicide and a huge civil suit against the officers in a sane world, but I bet nothing happens to them.
Fun Fact: medical errors kill upwards of 250,000 people a year in the US https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/new...rs_now_third_leading_cause_of_death_in_the_us
