Woj: Frank Vogel "very much in the mix" to be next Rockets coach

Vogel on offense is pretty basura

defensively, our personnel is closer to what he had in Orlando than in Indiana or LA…Magic ranked 24th and 20th defensively under Vogel…that is of course better than the dead last or close to it we’ve ranked the past 3 seasons

 

It should only be those 4.

 

I am hoping the second interview is about his coaching staff. That is most important with a younger team. The one on some and daily development is an area that is very much needed on a team filled with FRPs. A couple of coaches working with the non-rotation players. If we have stagnant players they will become disgruntled leading to bad culture.

If Frank Vogel is the one we get, we better get ourselves the best offensive specialist assistant coach available or it'll be hell again.

 

Yup, pretty much this. Vogel is fine. I would prefer Nurse (who is not even available yet) or Udoka. But Vogel will be a massive upgrade. And Nook is right, he very well might end up being a stepping stone coach anyway where when this team gets good, they are ready to level up to a bigger name coach at that time.

This team needs structure and culture and Vogel can help build that ground floor that we really need. Again, this team needs to walk before it can run.

Vogel isn't a home run hit by any means. Folks have been critical of him for a long time. Hes no different than another stepping stone coach until these kids can show they're ready for the next step.

is Vogel that guy? maybe, maybe not but outside of guys like ime, Vogel is one of the better ones available. Hes obviously a defensive coach.
