Just watching Kings-Warriors game1 and it is certain that Alp is more gifted than Sabonis offensively.
That's exactly what I thought. And we are comparing the polished sabonis with the 21 year old Sengun.
Sabonis is clearly off tonight he's normally much better offensively. However Sengun is craftier in the post i think. Has too many different moves.
Sabonis rookie stats 5.9-3.6-1.2 (points, rebounds, assists) Sengun rookie stats :9.6-5.5-2.6 Alp is better Sabonis 2nd year stats : 11.6 - 7.7- 2.0 Sengun 2nd year stats: 14.8 - 9.0- 3.9 Still Alp is better. Sengun started better than Domantas and is going to finish better than Sabonis. Simple.
Improvement is not linear though. Not saying that he won’t, just reminding ppl that rate of improvement is not fixed.
Of course improvement is not linear but Alp's better stats in every compartment gives us some clues/indications. Alp managed that figures when he was having teenage acnes and dealing with linguistic barrier( in his first year.)
Sengun's biggest advantage is having Jokic and Sabonis leading the way. He is smart enough to learn from them. He doesn't have to discover a lot of things. The biggest obstacle is finding the right coach and teammates. Stilll can't believe Silas did not make any effort to make max use of his court vision and passing on a team that lacks those.
Sabonis is the true leader showing Sengun what he should be and not be doing! Joking aside, I am fairly hopeful that Sengun will be much better on offense and somewhat better on defense than Sabonis. My guess is that the real difference will come from offense.
Harden and the Rockets were getting cooked defensively by that team the last time they played. It's what they do. What screens were intended for. Just have to outplay them as a team
KD was on that team back in 2019. They averaged 118 ppg and a 115 offensive rating in the regular season. In that 2019 series, we held them to 112 ppg and a 114 offensive rating in the 2018 WCF we held them to 107 ppg and a 111 offensive rating …in the regular season they averaged 114 ppg and a 113 offensive rating
Even the Jokic hate is driven by false narratives. He averaged or surpassed his regular season averages in all but one series, in the WCF versus the Lakers, at age TWENTY FOUR. It's no different than Embiid or Hardern or CP3 or any other guy that didn't have to team up with 2 other stars. It's more how the NBA operates as a league than a Jokic or Sabonis problem. It's crazy. Our first championship doesn't happen that year if Mutombo doesn't pull the upset. I'm 100% Hou could beat Jordan's bulls any day, any series but the Supersonics...kryptonite.
This is a good take. I hate the way the refs call the game differently as soon as the playoffs start. What it really allows is for the NBA to control outcomes like they did with the Yao fiasco and the Warriors not letting Harden land on 3 pt attempts. I don’t think they can pull off the lottery scam anymore, but they have already been proven to use the refs to guide outcomes.
If he’s a much better offensive player and a better defender you’re likely looking at 4-5 time mvp. Some of you are so delusional it’s just wild
