If the cost is KPJ/KJM maybe even Tari then maybe. Green, Sengun, and Jabari are core building pieces and it is way too early to give up on them to try and win 35/40 games. You are just being impatient and overrating what the addition of Brown will do for this team. Draft picks sure, core youth no.
That's not the poll question... Also, young players get better, it won't always be a 22 win roster... good lord.
They do, but we are trading for players that are ALREAD better so we don't have to hope our young ones develop. DD
For the right deal, sure. Giving up on our young players who haven't played even 3 years in the NBA and project to be better than Brown is very shortsighted though.
Ive noticed over the past few years, there has been a lot of talk about cashing in and acquiring a “disgruntled star”. But every time the conversation comes up to trade for one, the majority of fans vote no. DeAaron Fox, Towns, Zion, Trae Young and now Jalen Brown. Who do y’all want? Luka, Ja, Giannis etc aren’t coming here lol.
Man, this is tougher than you would think. If we trade for him he'd become a 30 ppg 7 reb 5 assist guy with us, proven and toughened in the postseason, and 27 years old. But it depends if he signs a long-term extension and if we have to give up the farm which is very likely. If we draft Wemby, Scoot, or Miller we can wait and develop with good coaches, and possibly become the new Boston, etc. over time, competing for many years. But both are unknowns right now and it's a risk either way.
Fox, Towns, and Brown aren't talented enough to be the #1 option on a championship contender; Young and Zion might be, but come with other major issues. I'll bet if a guy like Tatum or SGA were available you'd see different poll results, but those guys are the epitome of "untouchable".
Right but no number 1 option is coming to play with this roster as currently constructed. If we a had a couple number 2 or 3 guys we’d be more attractive to top tier talent. We aren’t going from worst team in the league to contenders over night. There will be a stop gap in between.
You'd be shocked but there is a chance Brown's stats worsen on the Rockets. He's already at near the limit of acceptable usage rate before he becomes a Heliocentric level player in Boston already. He has significantly better spacing also. If he comes here it's not like his usage rate sky rockets. And his efficiency is going to drop.
I can understand that, fair and possible, I agree. Typically on bad teams the best player will get more shots than on a good team, so I think his usage will be the same or possibly a slight tick more with lower efficiency true. Either way, I think penciling him in for 25+ points a game on about average league efficiency plus his all-around play will make him an instant all-star for us. He'll be our best player like Harden was when he arrived and since he's 27 he may actually improve by being the true #1 option instead of Tatum. It's just the trade-off for our potential and this next draft, and the bigger issue is if he'd sign a long-term extension. But this may be nothing but rumors, although if he's fishing for a max contract we'd be one of the teams his sports agency team would look at.
Just one game but Brown had 29 pts 12 rebs 3 ast on 12-23 shooting while playing injured. If we don't get a top 3 pick in the lotto it may get interesting this offseason.
This is the same forum that didn't want Paolo people on this site can't tell who is going to be good basketball player.
Generally speaking, if I had a team that fell to the bottom, I'd build organically and be able to keep all the pieces long term because you didn't overspend on a free agent.
The maybe of a contract extension is a question mark, but his bball skills is legit. In the end it's about accumulating assets and keep upgrading. Folks can debate on the package but Rockets Org would be fools to not pursue.
