Agreed. I have said plenty that I want Bryce at 2. But if he’s not there. And you take Anderson or Wilson, don’t you dare trade MORE assets for one of the leftover QBs. I would rather not get a qb at all.. or, and I want to throw up saying this, but I would rather have Stroud/Levis/hooker/Richardson at #2 and still have all our picks, rather than have Anderson and not pick again til round 3 and lose a pick next year just to also have one of those QBs.
You can't have 20 players go in the top 12. Most pundits do not even consider how many top of the first prospects they have ranked.
Probably to have a new reality show called The Mediocrity Treadmill, starring Case Keenum and Davis Mills.
It's a valid position. Just not the only one. My problem is not with the position, just that it's the only valid one.
I feel like I try, for the most part, to let others have their own valid positions. And try to mark mine as “IMO”.. I’m not in anyway involved in GMing and do not qualify at all. But some ppl just talk in their opinions as facts and it gets annoying.
I just think there’s too much opportunity cost with just taking like 5th rated qb at 12. If Jalen Carter is there or one of the CBs maybe even Murphy or JSN you take them instead
Of course. The assets don't just disappear. It's just that hardly any Texans fan would be happy with that. They spent this off-season trying to rebrand the franchise as on their way to competency . To me, if you go into the season with Case and Mills as your starters, it's one step forward and two steps back, which has been the MO for this franchise for their entire existence. Always just doing enough to sell tickets.
Here come all the “well the Texans shouldn’t do whatever the fans want cuz we don’t know anything” but when the fans on the forum think something, and then you watch as the entire NFL agrees with that. it’s hard to not get annoyed with the Texans trying to yet again be the “smartest ppl in the room” they have yet to show that.
It's not even that, I don't think. It's that the fans ultimately drive the franchise (from a revenue perspective) and with this franchise, they definitely care what the fans think. Especially when they had essentially lost the fan base last year. I get the there are fans (and employees) that think they are smarter than the rest, and this is the smart way to go. And you can make a case for that. And I'm okay with it. I disagree with it, but I'd be okay with it. IF you also had an answer at the most important position in the team. And if your answer is Mac Jones, that's fine, but it does nothing for me personally. He's already two years into his rookie contract, and I'm of the opinion that he's only a slight upgrade from Mills at the absolute best. So, when his rookie contract is up, and the team is maybe thinking about going to the playoffs, if he's been any good, you now have to spend to keep him. Either of these too 2 to 4 quarterbacks are likely better than Mac, in my opinion, and fit our timeline better. In an off-season where the likes of Derek Carr, Aaron Rodgers, and Jimmy G (and Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, etc) were available, if we're going to settle for Case Keenum, Davis Mills, or Mac Jones, especially after being one loss away from the number one pick - to me, is a disaster scenario.
I've been listening to John and Lance since they were on Sports 610am and this is about as dumb a scenario as Lance has ever laid out. A player at #2 who has been hurt the past 2yrs, who player who was only recognized this past yr. A QB at #12 who has never shown the ability to win big or who has never stayed healthy. I think he was putting this out as a SHOCK MOCK for click bate.
I think it is low too. But someone has to fall if he rises. And the real draft doesn't work off one board, but one of 32 boards.
I If you’ve been listening to him since his 610 days, you should know he doesn’t do things for click bait
Right. That’s why I posted possibly trading down from 12 or maybe moving up back into the 1st if they are targeting him.
That's my favorite position, though I can see trading down to a team likely to take a lesser player instead of my target.
It's kind of hard to figure out trades unless you know which players they want and which ones they are queasy about. Best case scenario, the next 4 on your board are equal to you, but two teams will give up draft assets to take their choice. Trade down twice and still get an equivalent player and get draft assets in the process. Or better yet, they take an inferior player leaving you with the ability to move down again. Each tome you move down, you gain asset you can use later if a player you want is vulnerable to being drafted and you want to move up one or two spots from the team looking at him.
