Yup - I said this year, not already He’s good QB with some flaws and ton of potential. Classic boom or bust. I’d be happy with him at 12. Just not a fan of the “BY is a third rounder” lol
The JoeA video is really good breakdown. He thinks similarly to me on these QBs, I’m higher on Bryce than he is
When I said @raining threes and “other posters”.. I did a disservice to @raining threes he is much more capable of a football conversation than someone like @Trader_Jorge who has literally brought up prospect’s brother’s weight as a reason not to draft them… and he has repeatedly mentioned his 3rd round grade on Bryce. Yes you can say you think Bryce will get hurt so he is not worth a top draft pick, and I can accept that, but a 3rd round grade is just disingenuous.
Levis is probably gone in the top 5. If he's our guy, I wouldn't trade back too far. I like Levis a lot. Tough, smart, and an arm cannon. Physicality is huge these days -- injury prevention and tough to sack. Levis scores very high in physicality.
His profile comes across as a lesser Richardson after the combine, so I’ll be surprised if he goes too high. I think Richardson testing off the charts has teams chasing his athleticism. I’ve called Levis a “lesser Stafford” but I’m thinking it’s his ceiling. I expect more of a Jake Locker career and especially if he’s forced in early. Hard p
I probably would rather have Richardson than Levis, but I'd be fine with any of the top 4. I just want a quarterback to root for.
Richardson is faster. But Levis has a better overall arm talent. Both explosive, AR is just elite speed
Agree, we need to prevent a QB getting injured. Definitely need to draft the biggest strongest one. Doesn’t make sense to draft ones that can make reads if they can’t be healthy. Levis’ sack rate was 3x of someone like Young, Richardson (both SEC), even though they had similar pressure rates.
When you watch the tape, there is so much immediate pressure right up the middle. That Oline was garbage. He also had a tendency to make some bad pocket movements too though.
I went back over his play types and tried to break down the data to see some tendencies. I found the following: Levi primarily relied on Flood Variations, which had a 30.16% success rate, followed by Screens and checkdowns/HB options. He used Portland/Yankee variation and shot variations to a lesser extent. However, his most successful throwing concept package was Portland/Yankee variations with 47% success rate, with checkdowns coming in second. Interestingly, Will had remarkable success with Curl/Seam/Comeback routes and China passing concepts, despite not utilizing them frequently, as evidenced by two years of data. These concepts had a success rate that was 1.5x to 2x greater than Levi's main package set, where he achieved success with Portland/Yankee variations. I wonder if it was moreso he didn't have the players to run the routes or if the o-line was so terrible they couldn't implement it. Efficiency is measured by the success rate, which takes into account the down and distance context. A play is deemed successful if it achieves a) 50% of the yards needed for a first down, b) 70% of the yards needed for a second down, or c) 100% of the yards needed for a third or fourth down. To determine the success rate, divide the number of successful plays by the total number of plays.
The playcalling was bad for them this year, some of it is talent but a lot was poor playcalling. In the video above, there was a series where they ran the same screen play 5 times in a row. That’s just ridiculous
Screens can offset an aggressive pass rush against a bad Oline for sure. But they went to that well too much
Agreed! It would be great to see different play calling for QB's, again would mess with some in terms of development but it would be great to see the ability to use multiple package types that have consistently seen success. This doesn't just go for Will but across the board for all the QB's.
Agreed! I was all in the Bryce/Cj train for a while.. as time moved on and more rumors came out the reality is there is pros and cons to all the top 4 qbs. I just want to pick one of them that they all believe in so we can get this train moving.
