S2 test is not necessarily reflective of how guys process during an NFL game. Watch some tape. Levis makes bad decisions constantly. Stroud flies through reads and rarely makes turnover worthy throws. Levis scored higher than Stroud on a computer test. Who are you going to take? What's your point?
The point isn't about Levis, it's about whoever scores low as a QB has busted and that's over a 5 year period, buyer beware
Would love to hear about Russel Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Justin Herbert, Jalen Hurts, Kyler Murray, etc on how they scored. If this was an end all be all then what’s the point of having a combine? Just because you are great at first person shooter games doesn’t mean you can cut it during war. S2 is getting pushed this year when it hadn’t before, despite being NFL relevant for 7-8 years now. Ok.
It is what it is. The combine is mainly for the medicals and interviews. I would like to see their scores too.
I agree. It used to be the Wonderlic, now it’s this? They’re making up more test as we go. The guys that made the test also said it doesn’t relate to on field success. The below is a scouting report of a MVP candidate. Has issues sustaining rhythm as passer with so many off-schedule throws Inconsistent patience allowing routes to develop Slow recognition of early throw opportunities Leaves slants and crossers behind targets Misses checkdowns and opts for harder throws Deep arm dip into elongated release Forced speedsters at (college) to slow for deep throws Needs to get better at trusting his pocket Quick to drop his eyes when pressure mounts More likely to void pocket than climb, scan and throw from it
For mine it's about maximizing your QB's skillsets - don't try to fit a square peg into a round hole and building a good team around him.
My point is Levis was in a totally different situation than Stroud who was rarely flushed from the pocket and had great receivers. The S2 test has been the best predictor of QB success so your comments on Levis being mentally challenged on the football field are overstated. I’m not saying that S2 is the end all of QB evaluation, but is very predictive of football IQ at the QB position. I personally would much rather trade down and pick up additional picks to build out our roster than take a QB at 1.2. Levis or AR at 7 with additional picks is a better gamble than Stroud or BY in my opinion.
Bryce Young's small stature (height + weight) really didn't come into play at Alabama because of his protection. He's going to get hurt in the NFL, there's just no getting around that. The question is how severe and how often. But it's a colossal risk to take if we draft him at the top.

I would just say watch some tape. Specifically the 2 minute mark of this video. Stroud is through 4 reads in 2.5 seconds. Then evades a breaking pocket and throws a dime on the run after directing his receiver. That is a top 2 pick. I would take him 1. I think Young is going to struggle more than people think. There were a lot of times at Bama he left a clean pocket to roll out. Its something to monitor. That's All Pro Level QB'ing already showcasing.
So what has really changed? The evaluation of a team (CAR) LONG after all the game film has been available/studied OR the (dis)information being put out to all the talking heads?
The Georgia game was one of Stroud's best performances. Stroud is really good when he has a clean pocket and has structure. if you watched the Northwestern or Penn State game you can see where Stroud struggles with pressure and decision making. He doesn't process as fast as the other quarterbacks at the top of the draft and you can see it on film.
