If you have issues with America release intel on America. He releaaed locations of air defense systems and weakness in the ukraine defensive line. If you think releasing that intel during a war is okay you are a national security threat and I stand by what I said.

Did you not read or hear what MTG said in her Interview? She called him a hero and said he doesn't deserve any punishment. Are you even paying attention?

During the invasion and occupation of Iraq those on the right frequently accused others who didn’t support that of being traitors. I remember posts made on this very site about those protesting the war were putting US soldiers in danger. Now we see where a US serviceman has actually released material that is very likely putting Human Resources in danger that many on the right are all for it because there is A Democratic President.

 

Why do we have people saying it's okay to leak Ukrainian air defense plans and he's somehow a hero? We have prominent Republicans claiming the guy shouldn't be charged

MTG is on the Homeland Security and Oversight & Accountability committees. Republican leadership should remove her from those committees, but they won't because she represents a major bloc of the Republican party and speaks for them.

I haven't been following closely, but how did this get to treason? I thought he was just an idiot who posted top-secret information on a gaming chat to impress others. It didn't sound like he intentionally leaked the information to expose or share it with a foreign government.

I also have some questions. Did he actually have clearance? How did he even get his hands on them? If he didn't have clearance, did he get training on how to deal with classified material?

 

Yes I think we’re a ways from calling this treason. For one I don’t think that Texiera intentionally meant for this material to do damage to the US. It sounds more like he was just trying to impress his online followers.

This is still a very serious situation. Even if this isn’t treason he still should face some serious charges.

More important than Texiera or the specific material this does show there are some major problems with who has access to this material and how it’s handled.

 

The fact that the right wing posters never responds when things like this are pointed out tell you they know it's true.

He should, at a min, face multiple years of prison because of the felony and the harm he has caused. Additional factors could increase the severity of the punishment.
