Yea I'm calling bullshit on that one. I hope you or someone you love never gets caught up in one of these rare mass shootings. It's unfortunate the only way people like you start to change their stubborn ways is if they've been directly affected themselves.

This is standard practice by conserve right wing individuals. Their empathy only extends to their tribal group. So any experiences outside of that doesn't effect their empathy barometer.

Hence why the first Republicans that supported gay rights were parents of LGBTQ individuals.

I'm sure other people would have different obstacles. Ties to family would be a big one. Given that millions of people leave Latin America for the United States with basically nothing tells me that relocating is not something for the privileged. Those who greatly prefer a different environment will leave. As I said, I am mostly fine with where I live. I could be happier with some changes to the law, but it isn't that big of a deal that I would go through the hassle of moving.
Meh, it depends on how you break it down. Direct gun control groups don't spend as much as direct gun rights groups, but overall spending supports gun control candidates more. I am reasonably comfortable with my risk of being involved in a mass shooting. I think it is very unlikely to happen to me. That's what rare means, after all.

You don't have kids, so you don't care. It's a growing problem, and the impact is more than just those directly killed. The US is not unique in mental health problems, gang problems, crime problems, or suicides. Its uniqueness is a sick attachment to guns that impacts nearly every American negatively by making all of those problems much more deadly.

More than 349,000 students have experienced gun violence at school since Columbine

Americans’ Experiences With Gun-Related Violence, Injuries, And Deaths | KFF

    • Experiences with gun-related incidents are common among U.S. adults. One in five (21%) say they have personally been threatened with a gun, a similar share (19%) say a family member was killed by a gun (including death by suicide), and nearly as many (17%) have personally witnessed someone being shot. Smaller shares have personally shot a gun in self-defense (4%) or been injured in a shooting (4%). In total, about half (54%) of all U.S. adults say they or a family member have ever had one of these experiences.

Total BS. You would be a damn liar if you said households are NOT more dangerous with guns. You would be a damn liar if you say that kids aren't more at risk of dying with guns in the home. Guns lead to violence. Innocent people are killed by guns every damn day. It's not all gangs and druggies. Take the 2nd amendment and shove it. We have kids who have no business being able to purchase weapons. Kids who didn't grow up and man up young like in the 1800's.

This is a different era than then. Kids back then were helping with ranching, chores, and farming at a young age. They grew up learning responsibility and helping their neighbors. We have kids who can't even change the oil in a car, change a tire, or start a lawnmower. Kids who were coddled, babied, and grew up playing video games. Many don't socialize outside the home. They are coddled and not allowed to wander off and play down the street, or take off on a bike. They are coddled and fed chicken nuggets from a young age..These babies are buying guns before their brain is fully developed, and before they have developed cognitive skills to control emotions. 18 year olds buying guns that can kill mass victims rapidly, with no training required. It's ridiculous.

We have millions more people now walking around with anger issues, mental issues, alcohol issues, and total lack of social skills who can legally buy guns. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that this is a problem. It is all because the NRA, the Gun dealers, the Gun lobbying Republicans don't give a damn. They care more about money than people. They make it easier and easier for the nutjobs to arm up, ammo up, and go ballistic on people who run them the wrong way. You are so hard core Republican you can't think no logically. You defend the coup, defend the white cop with his knee to the neck of a black man, and turn a blind eye to truth if it doesn't suit the Great White Republican agenda.

I think the fact that the shooter in Louisville bought his gun the same week that he carried out a mass shooting is something to be very concerned about. That someone who happens to feel pissed at his work can quickly go out and obtain the power to cause so much death and destruction quickly should worry all of us.

I doubt it. Folks who were so anti covid, a good portion of them kept that stance even when they had family/loved one dying from it

Households are marginally more dangerous with guns, largely due to suicide. Accidental gun deaths are exceedingly rare about 500 last year. Innocent people are killed, mostly by gangs and druggies (sometimes by an intimate partner).
Certainly, I agree that parenting has gone to crap. The number one issue is fatherless homes. It is ridiculous how children are raised these days without any responsibilities or accountability. That shouldn't result in people's rights being taken away, especially people that had nothing to do with creating these issues. Get rid of aid and you will see a lot more two parent households.
This relates back to the above.
It seems to me you did a pretty good job of laying out how the problem is the people, not the guns.
Actually, I am not a Republican at all. I am a libertarian. I believe in freedom, especially individual rights. Rights like the right to keep and bear arms.

    Marginally? Get real dude.
Yeah, like having idiots for parents like GOP politicians posing with them all holding guns in Christmas cards. Utter lack of parenting skills to push the NRA agenda and collect their money.
Typical Republican response, even though you claim not to be one. You might as well be with so many of your comments that the "Party of White Nationalists" takes. Take the guns from the people and eliminate the problem. Your logic is ridiculous. Why is there outrage over Fentanyl by Republicans crying about it coming across the border? Fentanyl can't hurt anyone who doesn't take it. People choose to take drugs. People have no choice about being a victim of gun rage.

No American needs to have a weapon that can shoot multiple rounds and wipe out a bunch of innocent people. They serve no purpose but to slaughter people. Your stupid ass version of "freedom" is a freedom to kill in mass. What about freedom to live without rednecks and crazies walking the streets armed to go ballistic? Should we allow people freedom to buy pipe bombs and crap like that too at Walmart and Academy? How about Heroin and Meth at the Circle K next to the candy aisle? It can't kill people who choose not to buy it like guns do. Innocent people get killed by guns.

Yes, marginally. 4 out of every 100,000 more than those without a gun in the home. Instead of a 0.008% chance of dying by firearm in the home, it goes up to a whopping 0.012% chance of dying by a firearm in the home, leaving only a 99.988% chance of not dying by firearm in the home.
People in homes with handguns more likely to be shot dead, major study finds | US news | The Guardian
Something that was incredibly unlikely to happen increased by 50% to still incredibly unlikely to happen.
How many people with kids holding guns in Christmas cards have been victims of gun violence? Any?
There shouldn't be outrage about Fentanyl. It is a bit more dangerous to police officers because of the chance of accidental Fentanyl poisoning, but that is more a danger of prohibition than Fentanyl itself. If we legalized drugs, there would be no need to rely on street drugs. It would also cut down drastically on gang violence.
Yes, we should allow people to buy pipe bombs and heroin and meth.

Wow! You are a lawyer? Scary. Guess it's good to keep those clients coming. Let's legalize meth so pharmaceutical companies can profit off druggies and kids. Let's make pipe bombs legal too. Never know who might piss you off enough to blow off a couple limbs. Freedom. What a psycho line of thinking.

Those tiny percentages of dead people don't matter. If their homes are more dangerous with guns it doesn't matter as much as profits off sales of weapons and arms. This country won't be as bad as Latin America while I'm alive. Who cares what happens when the rampages escalate down the road. It's all gangs, not angry white men killing people. Blacks are bad. Thugs, not racists, angry white men, and right wing loonies are the danger with guns in their hands. SMH

I bet you were praising Paxton for saying Grandma can die of COVID to give her grandkids freedom to not wear masks too.

If thinking freedom is good is a psycho line of thinking, I am happy to be psycho.
Everything matters, but we shouldn't restrict people's freedom to ameliorate the risk of rare events. Those who would sacrifice freedom for safety deserve neither.
Statistically speaking, yes. It is gangs not angry white men killing people. Most people of all races are good, so I wouldn't agree with the statement "Blacks are bad." Yes, thugs are the danger with guns in their hands far more commonly than racist angry white men and right wing loonies. The numbers are not in question.
I was against mask mandates, yes. Turns out the people against mask mandates were right.

You really are Mr. Republican and all that I despise about their way of thinking. You say you aren't, but I really don't care. It's people like you who actually are the minority. Greedy, selfish, and turning a blind eye to anything that can make everyone's lives better.Keep saying Black men are the ones to fear. Keep saying White right racists and gun toting crazies aren't. I don't care what you think. Your kind of logic says it all. I know your types.

I prefer to associate with people who can think without such backwards bigoted bias. We aren't living in the days of Cowboys and frontiersmen using guns to slaughter "Injuns" along their way to taking their land. We are past the days where so many people look at blacks as the animals that aren't clean or disease free to use thei same toilets, restaurants, or swimming pools as them.

There will always be those like you, and a party that turns a blind eye to the reality of gun loving freedom, and they are the ignorant selfish types. Killing for sport. Killing because they don't like the way someone talks to them, and killing because they are mentally unfit to ever be in ownership of a weapon to begin with.

Living in the past, and refusing to believe in science are backwards bubba's. The poor will get poorer, the destitute more prone to steal and kill to stay alive, as long as they can be used and abused by the wealthy. The sick and mentally ill will still die or harm others as long as they can't afford the help they need. The greedy people with no heart or souls will always value their personal freedom and wealth over everything else. It's the opposite of freedom to live peacefully, safely, and without worrying about getting a doctor or help when needed. It's the GOP way. Money, guns, and power to suppress, arrest, or eliminate those who speak the truth, speak for justice, or speak out against the 1% running the show and feeding the mouths of the vile greedy b*stards who feed the ignorant their lies and propaganda for breakfast lunch and dinner while spitting on the homeless and the sick. Greedy selfish Lawyers, Greedy power hungry politicians, White Nationalists, and Fear right extremists are the biggest danger to democracy and freedom there is.

Those Republican NRA money taking gun pushing politicians are a sick bunch. Her 2 year old granddaughter already owns a couple guns and these idiots try to say Transgenders are the threat.
