I guess Stone is thinking about Toronto like more of a package deal. If Nurse is out, then they are probably rebuilding. The only other alternative for the Raptors is buying into this core again. Time is up to figure things out according to Bobby Marks' report. Maybe he's trying to convince Masai that if we fall below #2, then we send: #3/4/5/6 #20 KPJ's expiring contract for #16 Nurse Siakam FVV (SnT @ Brunson money) Or something of that nature where we put Toronto in rebuild mode and we cash in our pick for championship calibre role player and All Star. Raptors fans also seem convinced they'll receive compensation for Nurse, but with one season on his contract it's not a strong case. We may even still have cap space after this so I would even consider taking Poetl off their hands if they're rebuilding. That would be SOLID if we got a PG, a C and one of OG or Siakam. They get a head start on tanking and clear their cap totally. I have to say I like the idea because all of these people have won a title (except OG) and I'm willing to overpay a little bit for that. If it's a package deal like that, it might shoot Nurse to the top of my desired coach list.
Don't think the Raptors do that at all tbh. Siakam/FVV/pick for 3-5/20/KPj is a raw deal. Siakam could fetch multiple first rounders easily. Granted they'd be late first rounders. If the Rockets have #3 then I could see it but they'd have to throw in something else. KJ Martin or Garuba I think. FVV/Green/Siakam/Jabari/Sengun plus Tari/TyTy/FA Center/JayGup is not bad. Play in team at the minimum.
Raptors assets are so overrated. "Max players" FVV, Siakam, 5-picks-OG, ROY Barnes only took them to a 10th place finish and in the lottery. I don't want any of their overrated junk
This. Let's also be clear that the Celtics players did not support the firing at all, and pretty much said it out loud. His firing was due to who he banged. Contrary to what is out there, it was not a staff person. It was the wife of a co-owner. That is why he was not "fired" per se, just suspended. Sleeping with a co-owner's wife does not violate any rules, as she is not an employee. That is why I said the real question to ask is "how does Tilman's wife look, all things being equal?"
Hell no to FVV and Nurse. Siakam is a bad fit. I like OG and would consider trading this year’s pick if it’s 5-7 and some of our role players or KPJ for him, but certainly wouldn’t break the bank. I understand the impatience, but there’s no reason to overpay right now. Green, Jabari, and Sengun need time to blossom. Sign Harden or Conley if you don’t get Scoot and then trade reasonably for some veteran help. If you can somehow keep Green, Jabari, and Sengun and sign and trade for a Bridges or OG you can be contenders in a couple of years. Bridges and OG are young and very good. My biggest fear is that Fertita panics and forces bad trades for the likes of FVV or Siakim.
Exactly - the Raptors have been in a holding pattern because they want to do the Kawhi rental trick again, not blow it up & rebuild. If you want the Raptors guys you probably need a 3rd team/star involved if you're the Rockets, preferably a team that needs draft picks (like Towns or Trae or something). Of course you could also just try to get that guy too.
Jarace Walker + KPj is worth more than OG. Jarace is probably more talented than anyone on the Raptors currently.
You don’t give up trade or draft compensation for Nurse. Kenny Atkinson may even be a better fit. Would love to have Nurse, but trading assets for coaches doesn’t make sense when there are so many good ones available.
I agree, Siakam alone is worth 2 FR picks or 3. Kevin Porter is more valuable to the Rockets than other teams...... nobody from a stable organization is pining for that crazy dude.
Horrible body language. Starts off by hugging himself to protect against others. Never really opens up and accepts things. I get that you didn't want to lose, you don't want to talk to the media, and it sucks, but have some pride.
Yeah I guess so. Always room for adjustment on suggested trades, but something in that ballpark seems about right. The current #3 pick in hand is worth a minimum of 2 future picks, so I think it's not that far off. Even if you have a great future unprotected pick, you can never be sure it will be as high as #3 when the other team knows they're sending you the pick.
KPJ would be good for a team with a good culture that needs an off the bench scoring punch. Absolutely can't have him around Morant, Booker or Luka types though. Raptors, Heat and Thunder would be good spots for him.
I do not doubt that he could be useful but nobody in their right minds is prioritizing him as a top option, or should. He has existing relationship with Green, might be tolerable here. Toronto is the most multi ethnic city, they will go for the next Luka, Siakam, Embiid, Giannis, Wemby without batting an eye.....the new Euro or African starlet.
the Celtics were a veteran team and did not care about about what Ime did…Brown and Tatum constantly sing his praises a lot of these players are probably out here cheating themselves you’d swear Ime beat her ass or just did some time in the penitentiary
You may be right. I really like Jarace. I just know how long we want to extend the re-build. Not totally opposed to keeping the pick if we can land a good vet without trading it or any of our current core of Green, Sengun, or Jabari. I’m not a KPJ hater, just don’t buy that he is our PG of the future. OG is much better in my opinion and would be more valuable than KPJ as a really good 6th man.
We'll probably handle our business in free agency and shoot for the play-in next year. I'm more in that camp right now rather than rushing the rebuild when we don't have to. We also have the assets to trade for OG or Siakam straight up if need be without this year's pick. The most important thing to this team right now is culture setters. Hard workers. Guys that will get on top of guys for defensive lapses, missed assignments, not coming in early, not studying film, etc. Wemby, Jarace and Hendricks are at the top of my list for this team. As nice as Scoot is, this team doesn't lack in offense. We need players who will play their damned roles instead of bringing in more guys that need the ball in their hands to be effective. We have plenty of that already with Jabari/Sengun/Jalen. And frankly Sengun deep in the post or Jabari around the nail should be our highest priorities on offense. That's where we are most destructive. Jalen needs to adopt more of a Curry role as a chaos maker and not a heliocentric Harden wannabe. This team needs a bassist and a drummer....not a 3rd guitarist and 2nd singer.
