My Grades on some of the more recognizable cameos so far: Timothy Olyphant: A ( They definitely could have done something bigger with his story, interesting, and well played ) Nick Nolte: B+ ( Something about the character resonates ) Carl Weathers: C ( Very flat performance, but he has a screen presence, so worth keeping around. Should improve ) Giancarlo Esposito: A ( There's some depth and believability ) Werner Herzog: B ( He adds a hidden layer, but they haven't gone deeper ) Jack Black: D- ( He took me right out of the universe even though he dialed down his normallu over the top performance) Bill Burr: D- ( Over the top and felt like a B movie ) Horatio Sanz: F ( This character was a total waste of my time and too chatty ) Gina Carano: D- ( I agreed with the firing. The character was killin scenes ) Amy Sedaris: D ( Feels like they inserted a cheers character into the show ) Clancy Brown: D ( The horn thing just feels like an old Star Trek, clumsy ) Time Meadows: C+ ) he played it straight, and thought it worked well enough ) Lizzo D- (Pretty flat ) Christopher Lloyd C+ ( Almost unrecognizable, so didn't take me out of the scene, but not too memorable either. )
It's becoming more and more a tentpole where they seed new characters in pilot episodes. Kinda like a breeding heifer that spawns Boba Fett or Carino's cancelled series... A bit too on the nose with MCU movies. Mando is doing heavy lifting to rehab the SW universe. This last episode was campy, but I guess is a callback to Clone Wars trilogy (as if we need a callback). Slice of life stuff but zero consistency or direction or even theme
I think this season is really good. Yeah, there are campy kids stuff sprinkled throughout but it's Star Wars and since my kids are young I'm glad it has something they can latch on to.
Enjoyed the last couple of episodes, although Lizzo was pretty funny to see her in a cameo. I was like wtf.
For those who may have missed this, in 2013... The Empire Communicated With the Obama White House They addressed the Obama administration's denial of petition -- signed by 34,435 people -- asking for the U.S. government to build it's own death star by 2016. "It is doubtless that such a technological terror in the hands of so primitive a world would be used to upset the peace and sanctity of the citizens of the Galactic Empire," Gov. Wilhuff Tarkin was quoted as saying. "Such destructive power can only be wielded to protect and defend by so enlightened a leader as Emperor Palpatine." For its part, the Obama administration cited high financial costs, the Death Star's well-known design flaw, and its own opposition to blowing up planets.
They should have kept Grogu off the show for a while but they couldn't help themselves because of the merchandising.
I don't know what people are watching, I'm enjoying S3 new direction. The S1 and S2 story arch was completed, I'm enjoying this wider outlook into Mandalorians. Also, this last episode was freaking awesome.
Last episode was pretty great and I've enjoyed this season as a whole. A lot went down in the back half of this last episode, since I never watched the animated stuff I assume there was a lot brought into the live action realm here....
Director: Bryce Dallas Howard, who—I'm going say it—just cemented her place as the best director in The Mandalorian's arsenal. If you need a reminder, she also directed Chapter 4: Sanctuary,(the bone broth episode!), "Chapter 11: The Heiress" (Frog Lady returns home!), and "Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian" (The Book of Boba Fett's thrilling, much-needed detour from The Book of Boba Fett). https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a43511367/the-mandalorian-season-3-episode-6-recap/ Cute Bryce got it from her dad.
