I really haven't followed the Easterby Saga, so I don't know why he is considered poison. At least not enough to taint Caserio just because he was hired by Easterby. I know his title said character in it a lot, so is the rebellion against good character or was the title to hide Easterby's bad character? Is this all just a cover story for political division in the locker room?
That would be kind of bizarre timing if they fired Nick after the draft. Maybe they want to take their time finding his replacement and Cal/Hannah thinks that once the draft is done they don't necessarily need a GM for a bit? Could they really be that unhappy with the FA work that they would fire him after the draft? I'm kind of hoping this is just smoke and nothing happens. Not because I'm a Caserio homer, but I just feel like it would be terrible timing and you probably wouldn't get a good candidate at this point.
Until the roster is set it would be detrimental to the team. Caserio has been working with the coaches, scouts and other staff so has his finger on the pulse. Bringing in a new guy would put a big work load on the next guy and put too much on his plate. Another thing to consider is what if he hits it out of the park with this draft - meaning he finds a couple of studs and several starters? You could hardly fire the guy then - especially if his replacement turns out worse. I am a bit of a fan of NC, even though I don't agree with everything he has done. I do give him a passing grade though because he has set this franchise back on the tracks after a train wreck.
Those concerns would’ve been alleviated had they cleaned house right off the back. Maybe something new came to light but if this was somewhat planned, it’s just another head scratcher coming out from Kirby.
The something "new" could be (likely is) DeMeco. They are building this era around him, and if he doesn't want Caserio, that is not a power struggle Nick is going to win.
Could be. More of a reason to clean house when they should have which is something the McNair’s have been reluctant to do since day 1. Kirby has been a breeding ground for this type of stuff.
I 100% agree. My guess - just a guess - is that Hannah, I mean Cal was hoping Caserio and Ryans would click. Or Ryans would be accepting of the status quo. Unfortunately, that isn't something Hannah, I mean Cal would've known in January. Again, just a guess - but as connected as Ryans seems to be to ex-players (esp. Watt & AJ), would not shock me if they've poisoned the Caserio well, if for no other reason than his tie to Easterby.
My guess is that a super vague comment by Michael Lombardi is being made into something that will not turn out to be a big deal at all.
I'm hoping the Texans are just signaling to the Panthers that they won't trade up, and if they want Stroud then they just have to take him at 1. We need to pick a QB.
