My choice would be Peanut (Cassell) but as someone pointed out earlier, his working under Doc Rivers is definitely a cause for concern - especially on the offensive side.
Quite true but I was impressed at how gracious he was when talking about Silas. Dude was dealt a bad hand and did the best that he could and it was a nice gesture on Stone's part to point that out. Compare that to the clown show that currently going on up here in Dallas with Kidd.
Picture it. First game of the season. Up 25 on an elite opponent after a flawless 3.5 quarters. 1st turnover of the game. New Head Coach on the sidelines loses his mind while the bags under his eyes gradually get darker and darker, calls timeout next possession...still screaming his head off at the players. Benches all the starters..takes KPj over his knees and rears him. 2nd game of the season. Go down double digits early with lazy defensive mistakes, all starters benched right away and given death stares. Bench makes a run but can't quite come back so in come the starters. Wild finale that we win with a buzzer beater. Crowd and players go wild. Only the defeated team and the head coach sans a smile. Players enter locker room anticipating more celebration only to find the locker room destroyed. KPj, not again! No! It's Coach! He jumps on them for going down playing undisciplined defense in the first place. 2 a days even with several b2b games scheduled! Players conference scheduled with media the next morning. Players ask for mental health days off and accuse coach of being abusive. Want their former coach back. Head Coach fired. Stephen Silas rehired. Former Coach returns to ESPN to call next Rockets game with double digit turnovers in the 1st and giving up easy buckets. Coach Silas on the sidelines shouting "good job, good effort!" while the players ignore him and KPj shootin dice with some strapped up homies on the sidelines
when kenny becomes coach, hope he gets the old crew to sit on the bench with him like ellie, will smith, and alien.
I like that they're scheduling interviews asap. I'd rather get Kenny Atkinson or Udoka than wait for some of these playoffs teams to get knocked out early and want to change coaches. The only real benefit for coaches coming here is there's mostly a clean slate. You can kinda make this team what you want. But, we have no shot of competing with opportunity to coach Embiid for example.
Have to imagine any developmentally-minded coach would also love the young moldable core we have. Chance to really make his mark on the franchise.
