Without knowing what the roster will look like next year or what offense they plan to run, it's hard to get hyped for having Atkinson as coach. Yesterday Stone wasn't able to articulate the offensive style he wanted the roster to play. It feels like they are reading social media to see what the fans want and are looking for that big name to hire that will make people happy.
He has always been a great teammate according to other players including Tatum and Brown. He plays hard every night and wants to win putting up consistent numbers in the box score. He is his own man with his own thoughts and took stances that were unpopular and paid the price for it and he took the consequences. Not once did you read about him missing practices or disruptive on the court or not getting along with other players or the coaching staff. Like him or not he was a professional hard working all star caliber player on the court.
Because he's not really fit to be in a 5 out system...so they'd likely move on from him. That said, if instead he embraced that kind of system and figured it out, that would be amazing....it's just not something he can do right now.
Ha ha, okay. Again, not sure where this idea is coming from that a coach is going to "set a player straight." A coach is not going to do **** to a player. How many times are fans going to have to learn that? Players for the most part don't care what coaches say. As long as the coach draws up plays that help players meet their numbers, the player will perform. Moment it looks like that is not happening, player will leave. People don't pay to watch some ******* walk up and down the sidelines. They pay to watch players. If the players stop playing for the Atkinson and tune him out like they did in Brooklyn, will he resign again? This guy has a 1 and done written all over him. This is SVG in NO all over again.

No he didn't just pay the price for it, his team also paid the price for it. A player taking up a max slot decided he'd skip a majority of the season on a whim. Thinking the earth is flat is not "being your own man", it's the definition of being a moron as is pushing racist Farrakhan BS to young minds who actually look up to him. Hard working player on the court for what, half a season? He literally skipped 30+ games simply because he felt like it and you can still somehow argue he's a good teammate. Incredible. There's a difference between being friends with your teammates and being a good teammate, Harden saw the difference which is why he bailed out of BKN.
OK, based on this limited amount of data, I'm good with Kenny A. Seems like a guy who wants to get better and when he left the head coaching job he went to a place where he could learn and improve. His comments about Kerr not just being a head coach but a leader of several teams (team, asst coaches, analytics, etc.) shows me he has an understanding about the non-game role. The question with any coach is longevity. Your personality may work for 2-3 years but then what happens when players start to hear your speeches and stories for the 4th or 5th time? Maybe he learned something from Kerr about how to stay fresh and connected to seasoned vets? Caveat: With any candidate, the initial impulse will be to compare him (or her) to Silas. Atkinson's intensity and the way he communicates can't help but look good when standing next to Silas but we have to judge these candidates on their own and in comparison to each other because everyone of them will be an improvement over what we just had.
Alpi with a consistent 3pt shot...Why would anyone be mad about that? Lopez was much older when he expanded his range, and I would hope Alpi would do the same. Regardless of the coach, he needs to add a consistent 3pter as the next step in his development. I like him a lot and I want him to be a star, but without a consistent and reliable 3, he won't be one... Back to Kenny, I actually think he would be great for Alpi. He will base his offense on sceeens and cuts, and Alpi is the best screener on the team, as well as the best passer.

He’s going to knock this interview out of the park. He will completely blow the room away with his vision for this team. Rockets brass are going thank their lucky stars that the timing turned out this way. Then Kenny will say, “can we take a look at the practice facility?”
The only thing I would disagree with is Sengun is not the best passer on the team, he's the flashiest passer, the most ambitious passer, but not the best. For every flashy pass he makes, he's got an equally flashy turnover. I do think in time he can refine his passing skills, but at age 20, he's not quite there yet.
Yeah he needs to tone down his flash and take care of the ball better. But when I say best passer, I don't mean the flashiest, but one that can see plays develop and find guys on their spots. Alpi IMO is the best at it on this current team. KPJ and Jalen still lack the timing and feel that Alpi has already.
That's what I'm saying when I say he's the most ambitious passer, he goes for things that have no business of working out, when they do, he looks like a genius, when they don't, it's a turnover. I do think in time he'll get a better feel for what he should try for and what is kind of crazy.
I think the better word is he has the best vision and anticipation. But, he goes for plays that aren’t there too often
Yeah but last time they were a tanking team with no hope looking for a BS temporary coach to catch L's that could be disposed of when the team was ready to contend. If you interview a legitimate coach during that time, you pass on them so as to not ruin a real coach during rebuilding.
