    Misery loves company.

Basketball world hates Houston and would Houston to take that
long journey down a dead end road. Durant, LeBron snicker as they
say go through Sengun. Jokic and Embiid don't want to be the only
Bigs that can't get out of the second round. Houston be a sucker too !!

Claiming I hate white people even though I mentioned Embiid, who is black,
as being in that Big Frame mold as well.

Harden tweeted years back that some day he wanted to join up with Embiid.

I believe deep down Harden has realized.....you can't win the championship with
either Embiid or Jokic. That's why he wants to come back and join Green/Jabari.
    And maybe KPj.

The inside offensive presence is ok as long as that player can contest the perimeter well.
Just my opinion. Final 4 in each conference has that model in today's NBA.

We shall see this year if Denver can do it, as they have home court advantage.
    Can Embiid win it all?

Who knows? I automatically tune out anytime someone tries to bring ethnicity or religion into a basketball discussion.

I think he has shown he has what it takes to add the 3-pt.er to his arsenal (to be used with moderation of course).
My opinion is that he needs a reliable jumper from the elbow or the free throw line.
    What will be next?

Should there be a Sengun subforum?

both Warriors n LAL always serves Adam Silver as their best sixth man off the bench, this two teams are unbeatable for sure, at least in 1-2 round.
if Nuggets meets Grizz, that's another story imo.

then they've got an Achilles Heel already - glass man Murray.

i wish him success in NBA , though i know his D, mobility and 3ball are still his weaknesses if he wanna survive in this nba jungle (as a starting center), ...but as we have been getting used to say in these boys' rook yr or sophomore yr, 'he is only 20, let us give him some time to grow'.

Alperen Sengun is a very interesting player.

He is only 20 years old at this point, and I don't think that a lot of fans or even people around the league realize how young he is.

Offensively he is coming off a 15/9/1 season in under 30 minutes a night. He is clearly very productive offensively and on the boards.

He has some things to work on offensively, he can improve as a 3 point shooter, and is he does that, he will likely score north of 20 points a night and I think that he is also capable of improving some at boxing out and also at putting the ball on the floor. So he has a reachable ceiling which is a lot of points on high efficiency and a lot of rebounds as well. He is already an excellent passer, one of the top 5 passing big men in the league. Usually that is the package for a focal point and offensive instigator, but still there are some stamina issues and I don't see him ever bringing the ball up and setting up the offense ever possession down the court because he is kind of leg heavy. I do think he can certainly be a great secondary facilitator or primary facilitator in a halfcourt set.

Defensively is where he has some real issues. He isn't great in the pick and roll defensively. He also isn't really a rim stopper so he isn't really a center either. He can be exploited on switches and the perimeter, but he isn't good enough as a shot blocker to stay home. Really, he needs to have a mobile center next to him that can also alter shots. Someone like Mobley or Wembanyama would be a good fit for him.

I used to compare him to Mehmet Okur as far as his impact on a team. I think if I had to compare him to someone, it would be that he has the upside of possibly Kevin Love. Sengun is a better passer than Love was, but Love is a better shooter. Either way, it is a compliment because fans forget how good Love was before he sacrificed his game to play with LeBron. He was a 20/12 type power forward.

    Ohhh no

It's sad when people are already making excuses before the playoffs begin.
"Glass man Murray"............Warriors could say then "Glass man Klay" but they aren't.

Mentally weak Wiggins for missing many games for personal reasons.

Here is Sabonis: listen at 1:05 mark as they ask him will Fox pass to you?
Sabonis says it's my job to get them open. I wish Sengun had that mentality.

As most of the Sengun "haters" have cited from the beginning --- adding a jumper to his already vast arsenal and IQ will blow the top off of this team for the benefit of everyone. I can look the other way on his lackluster defense if he can be a guy to get the team back into games from all 3 levels.

I agree with you I've seen him shoot the ball well from distance and with more emphasis on that aspect from the new coach it will elevate everyone around him. When teams cant clog the restricted area for guys like Jalen because Alpie is busting their ass with wide open shots everybody will thrive. No way you can allow teams/defenders to sag in todays game you must make them pay.

Not that bad for someone who is considered a "bad defender", I think. 140 "stocks".

Wemby would be great - but if we don't get him, how about this dude :)

The year before Magic the Lakers were in the Western semifinals and "close to retirement" Kareem, who was 31 that year, went for 24 and 13 with 4 blocks per game. He was also second team All-NBA (behind Moses), first team All-Defense, and finished fourth in MVP voting. He was the third leading rebounder, sixth in scoring, 15th in assists, and first in blocks. That team also had All-Stars Norm Nixon and Jamaal Wilkes along with future Defensive POY Michael Cooper. The average for that team was about 26.

Also, it wasn't until Jordan's fourth year that the Bulls hit .500 and they also had more experience and proven talent than this year's Rockets.

I'll also note both those teams had basketball people in the front office and legitimate coaches that designed systems to take advantage of their team's strengths.

Also, (I can't believe I have to say this) nobody is comparing Sengun to Magic Johnson. He's not the guy with generational talent who brings the ball up and initiates the offense. Sengun does see the court in a way that few have and the Magic mention is meant to convey that idea without going into detail. (Among others, Magic was also mentioned when describing Jason "White Chocolate" Williams but nobody ever thought Jason Williams was the equivalent of Magic Johnson.) Sengun is a high IQ baller with rare court vision, anticipation, understanding of court geometry, and the passing skills to take advantage of all that. He is far from a polished, complete version though. I really want to see him play under a coach who understands all that and builds a system to take advantage of it.

Both are sort of true. He's too slow footed to be impactful defensively right now but with the right mindset and dedication he can work on becoming a serviceable defensive player maybe even next year. Jalen and Alpy are both figuring the other part out right now. They are too small to just body certain players. Sengun isn't moving Nurkic or Jokic or Embiid. He's just not. But he's faster than them and craftier than anyone in the NBA not named Harden/Jokic/Luka. Whichever coach comes in will need to cater to Alpy and his incredibly unique skillset. Because it is incredibly unique. I've seen Euro passing centers before. Divac, Sabonis, Webber (euro style), Jokic, baby Bonis...but none and I mean NONE had the pizazz of Sengun. If Sengun was stiff like Domantas I'd be on board trading him but it's that little Magic **** that stops me from doing so. Because you can't teach that stuff.

If we don't land Wemby I'm almost hopeful that we get Jarace Walker to really fill in the need of a marauding defensive stalwart that will help everyone else. People want Scoot/Amen or whatever but this team doesn't lack offensive firepower. It needs defensive help. Wemby is #1 on that list and Walker is #2. Jarace would be immediate impact on day 1 especially because he wouldn't be yet *another* dude that needs offensive touches. Also KPj needs to get catapulted out of here via trebuchet.

Team record means nothing about an individual player's potential. KD's Thunder went 23-59 in his sophomore season. Devin Booker's Suns averaged 22 wins per season for his first four years. Tyrese Haliburton is the next great PG and he couldn't get Indy into the play in this season and it's his third year. I'm not saying Sengun is as good as those guys, but holding the team record against him when our plan was to tank is silly.

Domantas Sabonis is currently on a contender. Kevin Love played smallball C for long stretches on a championship winning/contending Cavaliers team. I think Sengun has higher defensive potential than either of them. I'm not willing to give him up until we've maxed out his abilities. Maybe he never improves defensively, but we can figure out what to do then. I'd rather focus on what he can do rather than what he can't do at the moment.

    You don't know me bub.

I promote all players that can play ball.
I liked the Theis pick up to repeat the Dallas screen men the Silas had in Dallas.

Parsons before he went to Dallas traitor like.

Herro, Sabonis, Duncan Robinson, Garrison, Doncic, on and on.

Look in the mirror first before you judge others
