That's fine I guess. I mean if we have him, great. If we don't that's cool too. Either way, I am going to worry about his durability issues. I hate the comparisons to Kyler or Mahomes; he doesn't have the arm strength of Mahomes nor the speed of Kyler

Man it’s going to suck having Stroud here, this team is going to be stuck in mediocrity or worse and then miss out on much better QB prospects

What's wrong with Stroud? Guys with accuracy and decisions making like his rarely bust

Nice.. I think will start to get a clearly picture if the Texans like multiple qb options.. or just one solely as information starts to leak.

But his football IQ and decisions making skills are superior to either of those when they came into the league. Again, played in the toughest conference in America basically without injury for two seasons. Will he get hurt, possibly but so does every QB in the league. His advantage is his pocket awareness and quickness of feet which allow him to dodge most direct hits. Truth is picking any QB in the first round is a crap shoot and you hope for the best.

He has accuracy to wide open receivers. His decision making is made easy from the system and players he has at his disposal.

He’s a very limited athlete with minimal upside.
Jared Goff/Kirk Cousins upside with Dwayne Haskins/Jacoby Brissett floor

    Agree.
Young has likely always been the small guy on the team and has learned how to evade, escape and how to fall and prepare to be fallen upon.
He is not the fastest guy out there, but his escapabilty is elite.

Isn't Texans expected system QB friendly? I read somewhere it is.

Never heard anyone say he was a limited athlete, just question why he doesn't use his athleticism more.

I wouldn't say wide open; every scouting report I read on him is that he's very accurate on all 3 levels and can make tight window throws.

On the limited athlete part, I think it was more so Ohio State wanting to keep him in the pocket so he would use his legs to move up in it instead of scrambling but he can for sure scramble when he gets pressured

SUPER QB friendly. In fact, it probably plays up CJ's skills if his strength is really knowing the system and executing it like a surgeon. The offense isn't built for a ton of off script plays.

    I'd still prefer Bryce.

You're wasting your time. He's incapable of evaluating these QBs in an objective manner. It's obvious to everyone that CJ is a very accurate QB, but yet he's the only one that thinks every throw was to a wide open receiver and there were no tight window throws which is clearly not true.

If I'm reading the tea leaves correctly, it looks like the Texans target with the 2nd pick is Bryce Young. And if the report from Chicago is true that the Texans were in advanced negotiations with Chicago for the 1st overall pick before Carolina blew them away with their offer then that tells you the Texans clearly have a preference which quarterback they want. The option is not 1A and 1B with the top 2 quarterbacks.
I would not be surprised if the Panthers select Bryce Young and then the Texans select a defensive player or trade back with the 2nd overall pick. If the Texans weren't sold on Stroud I could see a trade back with Seattle at 5 and pick up either your top defensive player. And then trade up from 12 to draft your next rated QB (Richardson, Levis, or Hooker).
