You can take that approach with some validity but Silas underperformed. He took the nice guy approach and it failed. His rotations and player development was atrocious IMO

I don't think you need to worry about that, if there is one thing this forum does A++ its relentlessly criticize coaches, managers, and owners.

LOL @ anyone still trying to use Pop and Spurs as some example. and still acting like they did it right and holding anything remotely accountable. GTFOH with that nonsense.

They regularly set records for worst losses for Pop this year. There's no such thing. Theyre trash bc their roster is trash and nothing one of the greatest coaches in history can do about it. it's that simple

and who do the spurs have? exactly. can't name a single player. respectfully, silas had 5 future all stars in his hands this season. oh and if you want me to name the 5, bari, tari, sengun, kpj, jalen

This has to be the account of one of the assistants under Silas that just lost his gig. No one in their right mind would say Silas did a good or even decent job.

If the man let's the GM override him he is a weak leader - Silas is gone because he failed....most people fail in their first job too, he will be better in the next one.

starting bruno was a result of Silas wanting a rim running center for his system which alpy is not. he prioritized maximizing his system over the development of a younger player. alpy might've played worse defense but he not going to learn to defend by sitting on the bench.

drawing up a play for gordon to take a game winning shot instead of jalen... benching sengun for entire 4th quarters or halves... not running a play for jabari until after all star break. the examples go on and on that he leaned into whoever gave him the best chance of winning that night. he did not give priority to development if it would cost him a chance at winning. the problem was he was also bad at winning.

you could ask me again if I know what tanking is and explain that making bad choices was part of his job during the tank. I would say that no coach would purposefully lose games in order to tank. their coaching record, substitution patters, lineups, etc, are all they have to get themselves another job. you think he'd throw that all away because it gives the rockets more lotto balls? this is his livelihood. he tried his best. maybe he would've been better with veterans, as he was hired to be. but he was the wrong coach for this group of kids.

exactly correct. and maybe he would've been good for the harden/rus team he was hired for.

but he was the wrong coach for this group. he couldn't get them organized.

stone hired him to win now with vets but then turned this into a rebuild. now stone gets to hire a coach specifically for this group and I think we'll see what a better fit looks like. nothing agains Silas, just a wrong fit for the wrong group.

Such a pointless thread. As if fans are gonna stay silent if the new head coach s*ts the bed like Silas did lol.

No idea how people can get infatuated with Silas, other than the kind personality he has.

Honestly, I don't know if he should be an NBA head coach. He has a lot of soul searching to do.

Hasn't Pops gotten rid of a few promising players due to them not showing good behavior?

Are you ****ing kidding me with this comment? Silas isn't even in the same damn universe as Pop.

Pop has his reasons and he can get as many passes as possible for what he is doing now. I'm not a Spurs fan, but I respect Pop and what he does....and I think the entire NBA fanbase does too.

Dude, I would quit while you're still on this forum. This take that you have defending this shitty coach we hired is ridiculous.

Majority of us as Rockets fans are glad he's gone. Now we have an opportunity to get a veteran coach to finally shape up these kids we drafted.

The majority of you are idiots too stupid to see we were purposely losing for draft reasons. Silas had no chance. You can't judge a coach's performance on a team purposely tanking. But your basketball IQ isn't high enough to comprehend this

What energy? Considering the results, the Rockets’ fanbase has been pretty lax towards Silas. He has the lowest win percentage in NBA history of any coach who has coached 200+ games. My expectations and “energy” for the next coach will be much higher.

You can be sure if the new coach is anywhere near as incompetent as Silas, he'll get put on blast 24/7 around here.

Hell, even if he's amazing, you'll still get a "fire the coach" thread probably before preseason is finished.
