Offensively, yes, he seems to have averted the worst case scenario. Overall? Well, it's best to just completely ignore that side of the ball. That's why he still has a LONG way to go.
That's WHY it is silly to assume anything and just speak your opinion about raw young players, if IF was a fifth we would all be drunk I only used the 10 game sample because someone on here posted the stats for it but I Am going on rookie yr to present and outside of efficiency Green has improved at finishing on drives or at least from eye test regardless what the percentage/stats say and drawing fouls, and keeps attacking rather he gets missed calls or not, he isn't shying away which shows some mental fortitude And improving by 5ppg is significant for any player and going to number 1 option its not like his TS fell off a cliff from past season, its just something he has to get better at as he mentioned in his latest interview, which being aware of your weakenesses is a very good trait to have in players Well If BOTH of them maintain what they are doing recently BOTH would be all star nominees especially if they win games, but those numbers won't matter if it doesn't translate to that Pretty sure the same thing was said about KPJ last 10 games of last year as well, just as you are using the last 30 for this season instead of using the entire tenure as a player in the league which is 4 seasons in We can revisit this Green progress at the end of his 4th season, maybe he will be NBA caliber by then according to your standards
Brewer 2.0 to this day is still one of the dumbest anti green take I seen. Man had a career ppg average of 8.7 and his best being 13 (his third year) and we have booby thinking green couldn't even reach that level in offense. What a dumba$$
While that's true, Brewer wasn't very good defensively, but he's the best defensive player ever compared to Jalen.
That's why I tend to say what IS rather than saying what might be. Also, "improving" 5 points per game while taking 4 more shots per game and 2 FT's per game isn't really an improvement, it's just an increase in volume. He was a low efficiency scorer last season, he's a lower efficiency scorer this season. That's why I say that drastic improvement is possible, but you can't assume it'll happen.
But that is based on the entire body of work and not 10 or 30 game samples, and its why I mentioned going to number 1 option would be naturally a more attempt per game and new adjustment period which going from parked in a corner as opposed to handling the ball ALOT more A drastic improvement is needed all across the board from all players on a 20 win team, which falls on the so called best player(s) feet, for every team The next two years are crucial for all parties involved which is 164 games not 14 or 30 sample slice, the whole pie Had Green kept the same ppg / efficiency rookie year with increase in shots per game and then he would need a drastic improvement and would cause for MAJOR concern And post all star break he seems to put forth better effort on defense as well, as someone posted his def % showcasing that, which you seem to iGNORE because you are looking at the whole pie instead of taking a slice to prop him up as you do for those you favor, bias at its finest, which is all fine and dandy, just be consistent in the near present
What's make it even more comical is booby claims to speak about what rather is than what might be, and Green put up 17/22ppg first two seasons which is nowhere near 8.7 and destroys 13ppg So booby was definitely hoping and praying he might be Brewer than actually what it (rather) actually is, ego is a hell of a drug
They were both trash, sure, but the gap was absolutely massive. Jalen Green is still one of the absolute worst defensive players in the NBA, he could get A LOT better and still be trash.
Points per game is directly related to playing time and shot attempts. When you are talking about someone with terrible efficiency, I get why you'd want to look at raw numbers and ignore context....but it's going to come up kiddo. With Green, he has hot games and then he's got chucker games. The handful of hot games look awesome, but they are unsustainable since he's a streaky rather than good shooter. Now maybe eventually that changes, but when a guy is scoring 26 points on 22 shots and 7 FT's, that's not a good thing.
Ppg is directly related to your role on that team bobby-goat(kid), Rodman played significant minutes but his role was to rebound/defense, similar to Thorpe 4 more attempts is being more of a bigger role, watching the game showcases just that and nobody is claiming he was some efficient god, the games showcased that as well, all stats aside The entire team showcased players with hot and cold games, they have won on avg 20 games past 3 seasons so nobody was tearing it up consistently if you want to be honest with yourself, they all had their fair share of good n bad You make it seem like he took 22 shots to score 26pts every game, and acting like he only had a handful of hot games, which showcases your dislike for said player Green is a shooting/scoring guard, I would imagine if he only took 8 shots per game you would start a diatribe on how can a player being a shooting guard only take 8 per game its like me saying your favorite player past 30 games are unsustainable because the previous 3 seasons showcase otherwise, which makes that 30 hot games nothing compared to all those other cold inefficient games
He did only have a handful of hot games, his overall TS% was 53.8% which is pretty terrible. I'm not a big fan of chucking, as such, I don't care how many points you score if you don't do so efficiently. I'd have been MUCH more impressed if Jalen only took 8 shots a game but was scoring 16 points. He'd be further along as a prospect if he was capable of consistently doing that.
C'mon man. I know you get touchy when someone comes at your boy KPJ, but the likelihood of any organization trading their #2 pick from the previous season or their #3 pick from the current season is next to nil. If for no other reason than it would be bad for business. Very few GM's are going to want to admit that they made a mistake with such high draft picks after one season, let alone the current season. You're being silly.
