2 more rebounds at the final game and Alp is going to be Top10 Under 21 rebounder in NBA History. https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/nba-most-rebounds-by-nba-player-under-age-21
If the Rockets get in position to draft Wemby then Alpi would be the odd man in being he is willing to guard and bang down low with opposing Centers letting Wemby roam and do what he does best and clean up help side You can never have enough talent in any sport, especially if they complement each other and want to play together Alpi just needs to continue working on that 3 ball/strength and with the Dream on post game, the rest will fall in place Only way I see moving him is in final rookie year of contract and he says he wants out and they get something for him or don't match the offer from whoever and let him walk which would be silly and highly unlikely
Wemby is %30 from behind the arc while Sengun is %32. Sengun attempts way less shots than Wemby though (140 to 32). Wemby made 13 of his 50 shots last year by the way. I think Sengun can become a better 3pt shooter than Wemby down the line. I can see him averaging Vucevic numbers.
I do think trading Sengun would make more sense if we land Wemby. It's less about positional need, per se, it's more that the whole tenor of the organization changes and it starts to make more sense to cash in big chips for a young-but-proven star player to accelerate the timeline, like a Trae Young, who Atlanta is rumored to be willing to trade in the right deal (I still don't believe that Jaylen Brown will be available). Which of our prospects you'd trade, if any, would just depend on what deals were on the table.
Not a GOF (Goon Only Fan) but I DO NOT want to trade Alpe!!! He keeps working on his game, gets better and better and is still only 20yo. He's driving and dunking more and more lately. Once he adds a consistent 3 ball he will be unguardablebe on offense! I know we need to get some above average defense from somewhere but I'm hoping a new coach with a new system that will actually demand some accountability will be able to change things. I want to see Alpe get the 20 & under rebound record. I also would like to see him get a bunch of assists in the last game and get his average to an even 4.0! Go Alpe! (only for next game!) Then.....Stay Alpe!!!
First, I don't understand the thinking that Wemby would push Sengun out of his position. It's obvious to me that a Wemby-Bari-Sengun front court is very viable, even potent, on both ends (when they all fully developed of course). Second, trading a valuable asset like Sengun for a second tier star like Young is not going to speed up our rebuild. We are not going to compete for a title in at least two years no matter who we get by "cashing in" our young assets. If we are going to get someone, we need to get someone who can help the kids improve, not take the ball away from them. If we get Wemby, we need to get a competent (not necessarily a star) playmaker. If we get Scoot, we need a complementary SF and the road to respectability will be longer as I expect Scoot would need more time to develop than Wemby would. But all this depends on how Green is going to turn out. Despite all the flashes he has shown, we still don't have any guarantee that Green will turn out to be an alpha/beta kind of guy on a championship team. His third season will give us a much clearer idea. That's why rushing to determine what positional player we need this offseason might get us stuck later. If we get a guy like Jaylen Brown, it makes more sense to trade Green than to trade Sengun. If we get a star center (which I can't think of any available) then of course trading Sengun makes sense.
What i do not understand is wanting to trade your best overall basketball player while you don't even have a functional bb team. This team needs so many touches to look watchable and ppl want to get rid of the kid makes it bearable. It's like trying to get a Porsche while you can't afford a dominos.
https://stathead.com/tiny/u9Yqi Just for comparisons. Alp is better in almost every capacity and they’re 3 1/2 months different in age
After suffering for three years watching this absolute trash. The rockets better not trade the only player who is enjoyable to watch. In fact they better make him the focal point of the offense this off-season and I don't even care who else we sign or draft. It's time to unleash Alpi if we are actually not trying to tank.
I want to see Sengun and all the Rockets in a legit defensive system put in place by a coach that knows what they are doing.
