3rd year player with only that much improvement isn’t even making the all-star team. Most franchise players make the all-star team by their 4th year. Jalen would be staring at RFA

All star team is based on hype, not performance.

Also, are there really still people who think Jalen Green is a franchise player? I thought that ship had sailed.

Why would you think that? What he's doing is pretty special relative to his age. He's incredibly young. You can never know for sure that a player will be a franchise altering superstar until he does it, but there's a good chance Green can get there.

By all means, keep hope alive that he'll magically get a LOT better on both sides of the ball, but thus far I've seen nothing that would suggest he's a franchise caliber player.

More than likely according to Stone he is one of their cornerstone pieces which is pretty synonymous with being a so called 'franchise' player, where you rank him in that pecking order is based on your personal feelings

When TMac was drafted by I think Raptors he wasn't viewed as a franchise caliber player or they would have played him much more off the rip, by time he got to Orlando/Rockets he was no doubt franchise caliber

I guess TMac magically got a LOT better, even though he was labeled a athletic version of Magic coming into the draft but was a pup coming straight out of HS

The Knicks view Barrett along with Brunson/Randle as their franchise players, even though we know Barrett is vastly overpaid, but beauty(franchise caliber) is in the eyes of the beholder

Had the Cavs viewed Porter as a franchise caliber player they would have buried his incidents under the rug and rode out with him

EVERY team has their own version(s) of franchise caliber players, some they overpay to keep/get, but it is what it be

Let's keep hope alive to see if Green can do what he has done over past 10 or so games for a full season(or 3/4ths) with up tick in efficiency, which would be around 25-27ppg year in upcoming 3rd season..... that is cornerstone caliber

Raptors wanted to keep TMac but he didn’t want to stay under VC’s shadow.

I didn't think TMac was going to amount anything until he actually went to Orlando... but the under 20 year olds do take time to develop. Even Kobe had to develop.

I knew TMac was going to be special, just took longer than expected and as you stated about him and KB

Dude was basically too skilled and athletic with the height to match, some yrs back on one of those mag covers he looked to be same height as Duncan/KG

Its harder to gauge players outlook in more current era than it was back in that 90s draft era, speaking for myself that is......

We have all been wrong about some player, I thought he was just another guy, nothing was special about him from my lens, outside of being tall

It's not magic, it's expected development from a player his age with his tools and skills. It would be exactly in line with what you would predict based on the history of prospects his caliber. I would anticipate he'll score somewhere around 24, 25 a game on increased efficiency next season.

Watching TMac in mop up duty for Toronto as a kid, you could tell he was special.

That’s when he became my favorite player. How lucky was I to have my favorite player get traded to my favorite team! I lost my **** when that went down

The efficiency is the key, for example, last night Jalen scored 26 points....but he did it on 51.6% TS% which is kind of terrible. Right now he's something of a chucker, will that change? We'll see, but it's not something that's an automatic. For example, that kind of improvement wasn't seen this season....we just got more volume with less efficiency.

I'd much rather he score 20 points per game on solid efficiency than score 26 on dogshit efficiency.

Also, this is just focusing on offense, Green needs to drastically improve on both sides of the ball if he wants to be in the conversation as a potential "franchise player",

We said the EXACT same thing last year, we took Green's last 10 or so games and projected what it would look like if he could keep that up....26 points per game on 60+% TS%!!!

Instead what we got was more shot volume pushing his points per game up to 22, but his TS% fell from even where it was his rookie season to a fairly terrible 53.8%

That's why you can't just assume improvement.

If KPJ maintains the results from his last 30 games over the course of a full season, he's an All Star next year. 20/6/5 shooting 40+% from 3 with a 60+% TS%

Of course massive improvement can always happen, you just can't assume it will.

This is HILARIOUS. If someone ask you your age, you either going to say I'm "X" or "Y", not well I'm almost this or that.

It's hilarious how some people on this form think. The most simplest of things are difficult

    Kevin Porter Junior is 22.

Bryan Kevin Porter Jr., also known by his initials KPJ, is an American professional basketball player for the Houston Rockets of the National Basketball Association. He played high school basketball for Rainier Beach High School and led the Vikings to the state playoffs in each of his four years. Wikipedia

Born: 2000 (age 22 years), Seattle, WA

Strange but Wikipedia doesn't list him as almost 23 or effectively 23. Apparently he needs to have a birthday, then we can call him 23 after that.

He turns 23 on May 4th

Which makes me think he needs a Star Wars nickname?
