In fact, outside of the confused folks, those doing it for secondary gain, trans individuals are some of the most marginalized folks in other societies. Yes I’ve studied and debated the issue here before. Women are still getting paid less and especially in sports. Frankly given their success the Women’s USMNT should be paid MORE THAN THE MENS. It took overcoming a lot of opposition for the to get equal pay.

I will repeat again. If women’s leagues decide they they want to limit competition to cis women that is their right. If there is a trans division. that is their right. In my sport there is weight classes so as such having different divisions isn’t a problem.

What im against is the view that trans people should be considered a threat. Yes there are trans people that behave badly but so do a lot of cis people. Being trans doesn’t make someone more likely to be an assailant. In most cases being trans. makes someone more likely to be assaulted.

In sports having witnessed a trans competitor first hand and given the actual numbers of trans people I don’t think that they represent any serious threat to women’s sports.

 

Again that is fine if it’s done by choice of the leagues. The arguments we’re seeing here is a bunch of men saying that women all should be protected from trans people. Yes certainly there are women who feel that way but not all as I’ve already cited support for Lia Thomas from female athletes.

I agree that it's a problem having pre-op transwomen in particular undressing around other women, but you're not doing yourself any favors in the bias department by trying to paint their mere presence as some kind of sex crime.

I went over this with another poster in a different thread, but this whole "love the sinner hate the sin" bullshit from conservatives on this issue is just that... bullshit. There is a very vocal and sizable number of modern conservatives who think there is no such thing as feeling mentally like you're a different sex from the one your body inhabits. They view gender transition as amoral and an abomination, full stop. They want these people gone from public life and spaces altogether. Their beliefs are borderline genocidal, sociopathic, and a mirror image of the crazies at places like SFSU who don't believe in the concept of biological sex or sexual dimorphism.

 

Agree. But it isn't a mirror because it's significantly worse. Ideologies from people like. Knowles have gotten into power before and we've seen the genocidal levels they are willing to go to given the right conditions.

There are irrational people who want to completely eliminate gender. But you know what? My concern of them ever performing a genocide is near zero.

 

We know that most, with few exceptions, don't actually care about women's rights. Most of these people don't want women to have equal pay, don't want them to have reproductive rights, and mock women in politics for how they look versus their positions. Sexists are just using women as a prop for their anti-trans positions. Not everyone here is doing that - @Nook is certainly not, but I think he's being affected by emotions that some of the way things being presented play up on intentionally.

I am trying to stay away from these false arguments that this is about women's rights. Clearly they don't want women to decide for themselves as they feel women are too weak to do that, so they have to come to the defense of women against the evil transgender men. Then they will tell you that you are the one being sexist.

 

The selfish part of me wants the GOP to run on their "anti-woke" platform. I want them to run on a platform that shows to the world that they simply gave up on the concept of government and now exist just to rile up culture war fears. Part of me wants the GOP to turn their 2024 election campaigns basically into essentially streat preachers railing about the evils of trans people. Because eventually I know what most people do to street preachers.... Walk by them with a confused look and then promptly forget about them.


But at the same time I understand that even if it won't win them elections, it will liven the hatred of a marginalized community more and cause more targeted attacks and harassment of a group of people who've already been treated like ****.

 

This is a staple of right wing politics. Just like how right wing people like ATW only care about gay rights when Muslims do bad things to the LGBTQ community. They don't care about the LGBTQ community. They care about attacking the Muslims.

I’ve gone out of my way to acknowledge that yes there are certainly women who feel threatened by trans individuals. There are certainly trans individuals who behave badly. yes I should think we can have a reasonable discussion and solution which is why I continue to advocate leaving it to leagues to decide.

It seems though that many are more interested in having something to take their moral high horse and ride over strawman arguments.
