Hmm hmm. What's he throwing at now? Apologies if posted already, I haven't been keeping track of his velo.

How will they do that? I disengagement just to threaten a throw over to first base counts just the same as a throw over and they just get two per batter. Teams will need to learn how to use those disengagements to their fullest.

92.7 average on his 4 seamer. About 1.5 mph slower than last season.

Don't some players start out the season with a little less velo and it ends up being not a huge deal because they get it back later ? Or does that mean a player could be hurt?

Something happened at a spring training game and Maldy, the trainer, and pitching coach came to the mound. Reporters asked Neris about it and he said he was fine. Something to keep an eye on....

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/texas-sports-nation/astros/article/hector-neris-not-concerned-by-dip-in-velocity-17852350.php#:~:text=According to the stadium radar,94.5 mph with his sinker.

I don't care what he was doing in the WBC. That's the same as asking what he was throwing in spring training 2022?

To me what was he doing at the beginning of last season is more relevant. In the opening series against the Angels in 2022 he was sitting 93-94.6. So last year he didn't start out as low as he is right now.

No, it's exactly the same as asking what he was throwing just prior to his arrival in ST 2023, because he was pitching in the 2023 WBC just before arriving at Astros camp.

    It was for comparison purposes.

I've never heard The Masters referred to like that.

Only that's not how it worked. He went to ST then the WBC then back to ST.

I don't care about spring training velocities because that is when players are messing around with grip, arm slots, building arm strength, etc much more than in the regular season. Which is why his velo at the beginning of the 22 season and this season are more important comparisons in my opinion.

Didn't know the ST timeframe, thanks.

I will continue to not care about his velocity yet. If the Stros can't replace a 7th inning RP either from within or without, then, well...?

I agree.. it's not a huge deal. However, it's a bigger issue to me than Dubon playing a couple more games than people would like which has been beaten to death here for dozens of pages.

At the minimum... at least I changed the subject for a couple pages. :)

The biggerest issue to me is the team not playing good baseball. ;)
