Anyone ever use Costco Travel to book trips or cruises? How do they compare to other travel websites or agents?

My kids are all finally getting to a point where we can travel. I want to pay someone to do all the legwork for me.

Yup! We used Costco Travel for a multi-city/multi-country Europe trip this past November. It was very nice having all air travel, airport transport, and hotel (with breakfasts) handled at once. The hotels Costco associates with are reliable, so no risks there either. The transport companies they use are good too. Plus, the Costco itineraries are pretty customizable depending on the duration of your trip and how long you wish to spend in each destination, which I really like. I would 100% use them again and quite frankly, I wish they expanded to more places.

Thanks! I'm eyeing a trip to Japan in the next couple of years, not in their system yet.

That's exactly what we are trying to do! I wish they went to Japan.

It's pretty good. We've used Costco Travel for a cruise to Mexico, the Caribbean, trip to Italy, trip to Hawaii (Maui and Oahu) trip to Paris/Dublin (France/Ireland). Just recently we used it for the last trip that I mentioned before and it's so nice having majority of things taken care of. They take care of the chauffeur service to/from the hotel to/from the airport, flights, hotel bookings, even trains to other cities in the same country (like when we did our Italy trip last year through them). To me, they are pretty solid for those reasons. The packages seem reasonably priced as well. As you mentioned, no Japan yet for them, but who knows, we've only been using them for like two years now, so maybe they'll expand their destination list one day.

    Edit:

Does look like they used to offer it to Japan last year. Not sure if it's a cyclical thing or what.

Exactly. More places would be nice. That would be my only knock on them. It's not a big knock either, it just is a smallish con.

Japan was completely shutdown for covid. Japan has recently re-opened to tourists.

I used it for an easy Houston to New Orleans to Pensacola trip. Worked well and was cheaper than the alternatives.

No Costco, but if you know where you want to go, why not google around for an agent who specializes in that place? I've done that before and had stupid-good personal service, even while on location.

I’ll talk to some agents and be totally transparent with them that I’m comparing services. But CF is a hidden gem when it comes to advice, and getting some here helps me from reinventing the wheel. I can start at the halfway mark.

No doubt about that. 78% of the Hangout posters seem like normal people, 82% of their advice is half-correct, and 59% of that is actually useful. 100% of the time.

Is this like that statement I always used to hear when working in a hospital that the majority of people who work in psychiatric units either were or will be psychiatric patients?

For travel tips, I'd check out the Fodors and TripAdvisors forums, too.
