To be fair I don't think he was saying we should not complain about this one just that the others are not complained about enough.

This is not his weirdest hill.:D

It's publicized here because it's a cover up by people of authority at a governorship level regarding a pandemic.

Seriously. Are we going to just ignore all the activism by the left and even moderate Dems when it comes to police abuse towards poor minorites?

I'm seeing a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation here.

It's not that people are oureaged for the individual herself. It's more like people are oureaged that a state government would cover up data of a pandemic to cover their asses.

I'm outraged that they staged a guns out takedown of single woman not charged with any crime much less a violent crime, not 'known" to have a weapon. It was purely a political act of intimidation by a Governor that felt threatened by truth.

When were we talking about abuse towards poor minorities? Somewhere along the way in this thread people moved the goal post to justify their opinion.

The complaint was the aggressive nature of the authorities when it was completely unjustified. There are no complaints of police abuse at the scene, just the manner of execution.

In other words, if the authorities would use better discretion on execution of investigation or warrants, regardless of justification, we wouldn't have so many altercations.

You can't fault someone for doing what they were told to do, but you can fault them if they handled it inappropriately.

The effect will be to reinforce two systems of justice: one for people of privelege and another for second class citizens. You would be naive to think a complaint here would be a tide to raise all boats. It won't.

It seems like a good lawyer is going to be able to guide her to an acquittal. DeSatanist is not very bright so you have to assume a bunch of dumb henchmen. I guess the key will be the judge though.

I had a meeting with a project manager today who's wife is an epidemiologist for the state of Florida. I asked him is she knew this chick and it turned out yes, same team, same manager. I asked if there was any behind the scenes stuff that didn't get into the news and he said he didn't know a lot about it but it was definitely political. Nothing that we didn't know but it's interesting that it's such a small world.

Rebekah Jones ordered to admit guilt, pay FDLE $20K in 'deferred prosecution agreement'

    https://weartv.com/news/local/rebek...ay-fdle-20k-in-deferred-prosecution-agreement

    excerpt:

Florida prosecutors have agreed to a “deferred prosecution” with Rebekah Jones to resolve a computer-based crime against her.

Jones was recently defeated by Rep. Matt Gaetz in the November election in the race for the Florida District 1 Congressional seat. She ran as a Democrat.

Jones was formerly a state Department of Health employee who gained national attention for questioning the numbers in Florida’s COVID-19 dashboard. She was charged in 2021 after authorities said she illegally accessed the Department of Health’s computer system to send a message to 1,750 people. She was also accused of downloading confidential data and saving it to her devices.

Federal authorities raided her home in December 2020, seizing her computers and other data equipment.

WEAR News obtained the “deferred prosecution agreement” on Friday. She had been set to stand trial for the cybersecurity charges in January 2023.

According to the documents, prosecution of Jones' charges will be deferred for two years as long as she abides by certain conditions, including:
    • admit guilt of the offenses charged with
    • pay $20,000 in investigative fees to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement at a rate of $200 per month until paid in full
    • 150 hours of community service at a minimum rate of 13 hours per month
    • see a licensed mental health professional at a minimum of one hour per month
    • no new arrests

    • Deny
    • Delay
    • Deflect
    You have chosen: 'Deny'

Jones has had prior criminal charges. At the time the search warrant was executed, Jones was facing an active misdemeanor charge on allegations of cyberstalking a former student of hers who was a romantic partner and publishing sexual details about their relationship online. She was fired from her Florida State University teaching position for threatening to give a failing grade to her romantic partner's roommate.[108] She faced prior charges including felony robbery, trespass, and contempt of court stemming from an alleged violation of a domestic violence restraining order related to the same ex-boyfriend, but those charges were dropped. In 2017, she had been arrested and charged with criminal mischief in the vandalism of his car, but the charges were dropped.[108][109][110][86]

Jones faced criminal charges in Louisiana in 2016 where she was arrested and charged by the LSU Police Department with one count each of battery on a police officer and remaining after forbidden and two counts of resisting arrest after refusing to vacate a Louisiana State University office upon being dismissed from her staff position.

Oh no, I know hot/crazy when I see it and I'm aware of her foibles.

Still, her saga with DeSantis is pretty cut and dry no matter how you try to smear it.

We can change your choice to Deflect.

I'm still confused about whether this lady's claims are legit or not.

Whatever the case, she does strike me as someone who relishes the attention and is not disabusing anyone of the notion she is a ****-stirrer.

    Also that meme is funny.

No doubt she loves the attention. And I don't doubt she's a crazy b**** if you get romantically involved.

But does she deserve for her 13yo kid to get set up to get arrested or for the cops to raid her place and point guns at her kids? ****, no. That's what should be the focus.
