If you watch the interview, this quote is kind of taken of out context. He is not at all talking about rebuilding next season.

He was asked about what he takes away from his teammates growth as looking forward to next season. But he was basically kind of saying that this season isn't over yet, and about how he loves to compete and try to win these right now. When the interview happened he was not looking as these games to prep for a future season. Later in the interview he mentions that part of the reason he wants to play is is how many games he missed last season, but he did recognize that at some point he will need "look the chess" about playing in games coming up to end the season.

Also if you listen to his recent interview with JJ Reddick, he does not all come across as the type of the player who will ask for a trade or believes a championship/title justifies or validates his career. He seems like a guy who is comfortable with where he is and who he is. He wants to get there, but with Portland or not at all.

The question is if Portland ever decides to trade him.

 

That must be for you and the rest of the loser fanboi club trying to hate on Dame for being better than Harden.

 

I'll go with you half way. He definitely is not criticized enough for his in game weaknesses. But for most people he is just an afterthought because he rarely gets to the playoffs. If that is not a bigger critique than getting national/Clutchfans criticism; i don't know what is?

It would be interesting though to consider the alternate universes where he drafted by Cleveland instead of Waiter to play with Irving and right before Lebron's reunion, or even if he fell a pick to the Warriors instead of Harrison Barnes. He would have a very different playoff and career arc

 

Nah he been to the playoffs 8 years out of the 11 he played, some folks on here slobber over Dame time while ragging on Harden. It's weird.

Harden was also called the best player on Offense of All Time at one point.

Lillard was only viewed as one of the better shooters after Curry.

 

I don't see a lot of slobbering over Dame here. In fact, I think he's a bit hated here because of the Rockets playoffs history with Portland.

 

Speaking of alternate universes…. The best player Dame got to play with was LaMarcus Aldridge for the first 3 years of his career. After that his best teammate was CJ McCollum. A zero time all star. After that it’s been a random hodgepodge of role players like Nurkic, Norm Powell, Aminu, Grant etc.

Compare that to Harden who’s played with Dwight Howard (still very much a top player when we got him), CP3 (point god that’s helped achieve franchise best records wherever he’s been), Westbrook 2 different times, KD 2 different times, Irving and Joel Freaking Embiid who’s been the best player the league the last couple years.

If anything Lillard has overachieved and he’s clutch unlike some bearded loser bum. Y’all mofos love to hate a player better than your hero for being loyal way longer than he should have been and playing with a slightly upgraded version of Eric Gordon for the majority of his career. Why? Bunch of insecure losers.

That was only Dame’s 2nd year in the league and first ever playoff series. Meanwhile that was Harden’s 5th year in the league and he’d been to the Playoffs every single year including a trip to the Finals. So much for being the more experienced and “better player”
