People find a lot of things distasteful. This is very mild on the distasteful meter when we have people claiming they are Christian to justify hatred against other people.
Hensley is great, I don't think he can play LF though. Realistically I just don't want to see Dubon out there unless absolutely necessary. Play Hensley at 2B and Diaz/Julks/Yordan whoever else at LF. Dubon is fine once a week and Dusty treats him like a bonafide starter, finding excuses to get him in the lineup even when we are at full strength.
Who has said he should be there outside of an emergency? He's played a handful of games there in the minors...any idiot who can shag balls every day can play LF in an emergency (track the ball...catch the ball...throw it to the closest guy)
I think your original question was what 26th man can play 2b and outfield, etc. Nobody is saying Hensley should play LF
Hensley is not the last man, Dubon is, or should be. Meyers, Dubon, Diaz/Julks and Salazar are totally AAA bound and replaceable. And yes...Hensley can play a bit of LF (I'd rather him focus on 3-4-5-6)
In all seriousness and back on topic (for me anyway), a really nice win. I think I should go to every game. The last 3 years, including ALDS, ALCS, and WS as well as regular season, I'm like 15-5. Not 20-0 mind you, but a pretty respectable 0.750 winning percentage. Liking what I'm seeing from Javier early on. He had a tougher inning when he gave up the run, but partially due to a DOGSHIT hit that Bregman wasn't able to get to. I hope this sparks the Astros a bit. We've got a very winnable series against the Twins coming up.
Leon. Especially if he takes Dubon job of playing 4 out of 6 games. If he was treated like the 26th man and played 3 times a month I wouldn’t give a shot. Honest. But if Dusty is going to play him all the time for “reasons like he needs to be dfa’d.
I will say it again. He is not getting 26 man treatment. He is starting 2/3 of games. I’m not really concerned about the season, but the competition in our division is better this year and there is no use wasting bats on a guy that will never be better than a 26 man utility defensive player. Let him start for Framber and give the rest of the bats to Hensley to see if he is our future utility man. Dubon will get a start at SS before long so Pena gets a break. Having Diaz ride the pine makes absolutely no sense to me either. If you’re not going to give him any bats send him down, so he can at least get ready if Maldy gets hurt. My ideal lineup most days until Brantley gets back: Peña SS Bergman 3b Alvarez LF Abreau 1b Tucker RF McCormick CF Hensley 2b Diaz DH Maldonado C
I do. I think he should DH against RH and Alvarez be in left. Brantley has not hit lefties well the last 2 years. Hensley should be getting as many bats as possible, so when Altuve gets back we will know if he is the best DH candidate against LH. Of course, that’s assuming Myers hasn’t figured it out by then.
I'm thinking it will be 50-50 between LF and DH, but it could go either way depending how well he plays LF.
