I will enjoy the ride once the maintenance folks figure out why the button isn't starting the coasters climb.
I’m still passed at Meyers noodle arm throw that couldn’t reach home. Guy just lacks awareness and urgency.
Or you can live in Astros forum infamy like Mr. Scarface who cried like you're doing in 2019 7 games into the season. Astros look like a bunch players that got paid, and are content. | ClutchFans or wait until the playoffs and start one of these doozies before the Astros go on to win a World Series. I'm not too concerned with the pitching. All the starting pitchers and major relievers have shown what normally makes them great. All have been a little rusty with lapses in command especially in later innings. My concern right now is that there are only 3 guys in the line-up producing with two major stars stinking up the joint. We can't afford that with two of our best hitters injured especially with Dusty trotting out Dubon, Maldy, and Meyers on a regular basis. We are still setup well once everyone gets going but damn, it looks ugly right now.
This **** with not playing Diaz is maddening. He needs to play somewhere - send him back down to AAA if this is all you have planned for him in Houston. Guys like Salazar and Julks should be riding the bench as backups not Diaz.
Dusty is gonna get Julks demoted ahead of schedule at this rate. It's absurd that he's playing more than Diaz AND Chaz McCormick. At least Dubon isn't starting.
Any lineup without Dubon, Maldonado and Meyers is gonna look significantly better than one with them.
Guys like Salazar and Julks should not be on the team. Dubon should not be on the team as long as Dusty is the manager
Of the healthy players, I'm not sure Julks isn't one of the Astros best 9 position players at the moment. He probably should be playing when Alvarez DHs, Diaz is catching, and/or one of those two are on the bench resting. When one of those three scenarios doesn't happen, I still think it is a coin flip between him and a couple of other players regarding who is the best bat left to fill DH.
Diaz should always be in the lineup if Maldy is catching and Alvarez is in left field. Unless Baker is just giving everyone a chance before they get sent down.
How often is that gonna happen? Maldonando is a starter, whether we like it or not. The way Dusty manages there's rarely gonna be a game where Maldy, Dubon and Meyers all sit, even if 2 of them should sit almost every day.
If the Astros are unconcerned with winning and focusing solely on development, sure. If the Astros top concern is winning, I'm not sold that Diaz is already a better bat than Julks. Julks has been absolutely horrible at swinging at balls. Diaz is much worse and compounds it by being able to put those pitches that are way outside the zone weakly into the field of play. The vastly superior contact skills suggests DIaz will be a lot better hitter than Julks in the future, but I think it is a coin toss on who the current better hitter is. This is not meant to be ringing endorsement of Julks.
