I don't know about outdid. Wake me up when Bae does it in a crucial situation in a WS game. Still. Outstanding catch.
SSSHHHHHH!!!!!! Keep bringing in lefties and keep running on him. PLEASE! ~Everybody in NYC knows he's just a DH being hidden in the OF and can't hit lefties.~
Despite the record, we always seem to have a tougher time with a team or two considered one of the dregs of the league. But it is usually outside the division.
Two are on IL and two are in the lineup and aren't hitting. And we are still winning a third of our games.
Key is Peña and Bregman getting out of their slump. Those two start hitting with Alverez,Abreu,Tucker and will will be alright until Altuve and Brantley get back.
When we have our full line-up, we can handle a couple of them being in a slump. We handled not having Brantley much of last year and still having a player or two (usually Yuli) being in a slump. But we are struggling because we only have a couple of players hitting right now. Maybe three. Tucker, Alvarez and Abreu? If this doesn't change, We will have a bad season. But that's not likely. Just take a deep breath and hope we don't get too far behind. As soon as we win 3 in a row, the bandwagon will be full again.
Thank you for your rational sentiment But @Rvo384 can't refute his sentiment because his is based on a flimsy narrative Enjoy the season. Enjoy the MLB historic juggernaut of your current Astros
I'm sure I will get roasted for this, but, many on this board think that getting Altuve and Brantley back will cure all of our ill's offensively. I'm sure after Jose shakes the rust off he will still be Altuve, but I'm not so sure with Uncle Mike. Mike has missed significant time. He is also healing up from shoulder issues. At some point father time always wins. I'm afraid that putting so much faith in Mike to be the same player he has always been is a bit of a pipe dream. I hope I'm wrong.
Brantley alone will not be the difference between a good offense and a mediocre offense. The fact is injury, combined with Dusty, means we usually aren't rolling out even 67% of our best lineup. The hope was that we use this time to see what upside guys like Hensley and Diaz could do given regular AB's if we needed to replace somebody, instead we're seeing a lot of Julks and the great Mauricio Dubon. Chaz, Hensley, and Diaz should be playing almost everyday, and no more than 2 of Maldy,Dubon,Julks and Meyers should ever be starting in one game. Seeing 4 of them in one game is a f**king joke. If we "need" to replace Brantley, his position is the easiest one in the league to find offense if we have to make a trade.
Bregman batting in June and beyond is another offensive cure Day's end... Astros will likely reach the LCS and win said series Hopefully we don't lose to a team who misses the playoffs the next 5 seasons Sit back and enjoy the ride
Bregman AND Pena. 2 out and 2 slumping in a line-up 7 deep is difficult to overcome. The Pitching staff isn't in a groove yet either. But we're not 0 fer. And you can love the WBC all you want, but it is, at a minimum, partially responsible for the poor start. Combining Baseball in November with WBC and it's a recipe for fatigue. ps How's Philadelphia doing after November Baseball?
No panic yet. Just concerning. I'll panic once they're 10 games under 0.500. I'm still yet to see Julks' power that the broadcast keep bringing up.
We currently have the 2nd best xFIP and SIERA in the league. We're dealing with a crazy high BABIP, and some starters maybe fatiguing here in the early going. Not really concerned with the pitching despite the mediocre results thus far.
Look on the bright side, DeGrom getting his second start today with a 12.27 ERA. Please no rest with the off day tomorrow, hoping for: PeñaSS Bregman3B Alvarez, YLF Abreu, J1B TuckerRF McCormickCF Hensley2B Diaz, YDH MaldyC
