I think the pitchers have played generally well so far outside of Martinez, Stanek, and Pressly. Pressly will come around but there is real risk Martinez and Stanek might be mediocre this year. But I guess someone has to make room for Lance and Whitley. I think the one thing that’s really stuck out to me so far has been the complete lack of power outside of our two best hitters. Hard to score in today’s game hitting singles.
I was just messing around. My soul is perfectly fine. The Astros have one of their starters injured, 2/9 of their full lineup injured and have been slow out of the gate for years. I'm good. Though I'm confused with certain decisions. Tonight was a close game (mostly). Having Meyers, Dubon and Maldy at the back of the lineup was going to be rough. When Meyers got on with his hit to 3B, why wasn't there an attempt to get Meyers to 2B by stealing? I know since his injury, his arm hasn't looked great and he seems a little lost at the plate, but he still has his speed. But Dubon flies out to CF on the first pitch. Then Maldy swings early and makes an out after seeing two pitches, and Meyers is still at first. The likelihood that Dubon and/or Maldy move Meyers over with hits is relatively small, so I wish Dusty/the Astros would try to manufacture a few runs. Then when Meyers got on his second time, Dubon grounded into a double play on his 7th pitch. Why wasn't Meyers given a green light to steal to try and stay out of the double play? And then batting Maldy in the 9th with two runners out? What's the point of having Hensley ride the bench and carrying two catchers if you don't PH for Maldy in the 9th with runners on while losing? But I digress...it's a long season.
I’m not a fan of how Diaz is being used. I expected him to be playing nearly every day in some capacity with Lee being kept in SL but that has not been the case. It can’t be making it easier for him to adjust to MLB pitching only playing sparingly.
As bad as Dubon has played..Maldy has been worse. He’s not even catching or framing well. Multiple runners stealing on him, letting balls pass, and hitting worse than Meyers. No wonder Bagwell and Crane were so aggressive for a veteran catcher.
No, this is different. You can just see it and know. The other years you could tell things needed to get going. This feels like a team that isn't good enough.
Relax bro. 6 games. Yeah it does not look good but its the equivalent of like the first 2 minutes of an NBA game.
Wait...so if it rains 6 days in a row, that doesn't mean it's going to rain for the rest of the year...? I'm flabbergasted!
Good news my bros. It's STILL EARLY! Hopefully the people on here telling everyone to relax and it's early will have the same positivity come June when we're 8 back of the Rangers. Still early bros!!!
