I think this is the correct package. I could imagine Boston wanting tari over KPJ and/or KJ over tate, but generally I think this would be the asking price. I can't believe there's a non-zero chance we start next season with: Nurse Wemby Jabari Brown Jalen Harden that team is top 3 in the west next year.
What do you think they’re getting back for him? He’s getting paid $60M in 2026-27 and is an injury prone guard who didn’t even sniff the all star conversation this year when fully healthy. He even has a no trade clause. Hence makes sense to go to Boston with Tatum, one of the few trades he’d accept and allow that franchise to start fresh.
Yeah that may be what Stone and Co. Are looking at. Do they give up Jalen Green in this deal? I would have to think they would include a package of KMJ (UFA in 24) and Sengun at least and maybe Tate plus future picks. But is Wemby Harden Brown the endgame? Or are they looking at this trio plus Green? Doesn’t make sense to trade a rising young player on a rookie deal. Very intriguing.
KPJ and Tate have to go out to make the contracts work. I could definitely see Tari or KJ getting added to push it over the line, but would want fight to hold on to them if I were Houston. Tari for his upside, KJ because he’d be another tradeable chip once he signs an extension.
we have enough cap space to absorb brown without sending out a dime. now if we want to take him on plus save cap space for harden then we'd probably need to include KPJ. I'd assume both sides would agree that jalen, jabari, our '23 first is off the table, and all the BK picks plus the clippers pick is automatically included. the negotiations likely come down to which 2-3 players are traded between alpy, tari, kpj, KJ, tate, tyty, garuba, and JC. consider the Celtics needs if they wanted to stay competitive. they've got plenty of guard depth even without brown (smart, white, brogdon, Pritchard), I would assume they'd look for front court depth since timelord and horford miss so many games, and grant is a RFA. if I were the C's I'd insist on alpy and fight for one of tari or KJ if not both. I'd have little interest in KPJ unless we could flip his contract for a starting front court player.
I feel Stone would try to keep Green/Jabari for reason you mention plus how he wouldn't want to give up on his hand picked choices as first GM stint (ego is a hell of a drug) quite so quickly but you never know Best bet is to wait it out and see if Brown request out and list Rockets as one of his choices or make a run at him if he becomes free agent and give up no assets
No chance we trade for a star taken directly into cap space. It’d be GM malpractice. We can get 2 max salary slot players by using space then doing a trade. Otherwise we can only get 1. So KPJ and Tate have to be going out — this is why they’re our most likely players to get traded this summer. Re-read the proposal. The Celtics wouldn’t be getting our young players at all, just Beal and picks as future trade ammo. KPJ and Sengun would go to Washington, who would be in need of young pieces if they’re resetting. Boston wouldn’t want 21 year olds, and they don’t need depth. They’d want an offensive star to play alongside Tatum if they move Brown - they have a team filled with elite role players at every position already, but just Tatum and Brown as offensive threats. I could see us adding Tari or KJ or another pick as necessary, but it’d probably go to Washington in this structure. Beal + 4 strong near-future draft assets is a great return for BOS imo if Brown won’t re-sign with them.
A lot of normal madness during the season as well. It becomes madness about finished and older players than prospects.
Wouldn't have to send much out if he wanted to come here. What incentive does he have to gut the team he's being traded to? If he's leaving he's forcing his way out and holding them hostage. This is not a Durant situation with a long contract. He can refuse to extend with anyone except the team of his choice and that team will be willing to wait even a whole season to get Brown as an FA or on a discount. They will be f*cked for years if he walks for nothing. Brown will want to establish himself and he'll want to have a lot of talent on his side. I think people are trolling by including Sengun or Green in the packages. It's not going down like that and the front office in the real world values those guys more than you do. Slightly more than Kyrie is what it would take if the stars aligned and he decided to force his way here. Still skeptical there's any truth to him having interest.
03:20 Gerald HTOWN Green love. And out of mf'n nowhere too haha. Sign me up for Jalen - ALLAH HU AKBAR.
Yeah, I'm not surprised. He's in a good situation, they're in a good situation having him... Why the hell would he be unhappy with his role when he's playing 36mpg and taking 20+ shots per game? Hate to say I told you so...
There are few players with Green's physical profile who became elite defenders. He hasn't shown the ability to overcome it yet. I don't know what you mean by second year Brown. I don't have a time machine.
