You guys on the right have such a distorted view of the so-called left. The guy tried to literally overturn democracy and has poisoned the minds of ALOT of my family members into extremist cult followers I can barely have a conversation with. Of course many like me want to see some form of justice prevail. But we also aren’t dumb enough to not see the benefit of the long game here to preserve some semblance of a functioning liberal democracy for our future. Whatever the end game is to make the fascist MAGA brand of authoritarianism on the right much much less popular… we want THAT. Trump in hand cuffs.. not sure that is exactly what solves that problem. Trump and Trumpism being wildly unpopular with folks like you would be more productive to our goals of preserving democracy instead of this out of control determination to remake the US into an right wing autocratic fundamentalist white evangelical Christian state. So really the ball is in YOUR court. What has to happen to make this brand of autocracy less popular with people like YOU?? Why are your parties problems and problem child’s like Trump our problem and not yours???
We have folks downplay Jan 6, i have no doubt the same folks mindset about trump will not change regardless of the verdict. I think that to showcase fairness or the "illusion" of a fair justice system, Trump should have been handcuffed and have his mug shot taken. Folks that commit even smaller crime gets handcuff, but i guess doing it to the former president might make conservatives head explode with anger. It's wouldn't matter in the end if he gets sent to prison for his crimes like any other criminal, better not be something dumb like probation or house arrest
We all have the same problems as Americans. Both sides of the aisle have issues. It will never be perfect. Today will be example of an imperfect America.
Maybe, but I think the world is bored of Trump, and after just two seconds of his plane leaving, they have moved on. It is only the American public who remain so attached to him. For me, he has been indicted, which already means he is not above the law. Now, it is up to the justice system to decide his fate. The verdict, whatever it may be, is not that important. What is important is that the process is allowed to play out to completion without interference. I have already seen that the Republican base and political leaders as a whole will not allow that and have interfered, attacking the DA, investigating the DA, and calling for violence. The man is being put above the law by today's Republicans, and I do not expect that the severity of this or any future crime or the quality of the evidence will matter to the party. That behavior is what is dangerous to democracy, holding him above the law, not the verdict of this case.
Yes but those issues cannot be resolved for everyone if the right decides that they will impose their will on the majority of the country through an autocratic process. You can't sit here and preach equality when the people you are voting for are working hard to ensure that our country move towards an unequal autocratic state.
If they’re going to treat this as a routine case, it is imperative they misplace his paper work and lose something of his during intake.
This is spot-on. The American right continues to double down on losing positions, candidates and ideologies that only remain politically viable due to two archaic institutions: the electoral college and two senators for every state. Trump lost the popular vote twice, by millions of votes, twice cost the GOP the Senate and continues to be an anchor on the party because the only thing Republicans hate more than losing is having to take an L and admit that they’re doing something wrong. Their base would rather support a man who literally tried to overturn our government (betraying the views of the Founders that conservatives claim to revere) and parrot his easily disprovable lies about everything than engage in a bit of introspection about why their beliefs are broadly unpopular.
A little bit. The OJ style coverage, and the way they frame the arguments around the politics (IE "Why would Democrats bring on THIS charge first?") instead of the facts is deeply problematic. BUT... in the end this is only a story because A. Republicans in Congress refused to Impeach him, and B. Republicans and MAGA voters continue to make him the front runner for the nomination. The original sin here is Republicans in Congress not impeaching him, and continuing to allow him to be a nominee. If he wasn't a nominee, I think this would be more of a TMZ type of story than an NBC/ABC story.
MTG stayed for 10 minutes.....just enough to get some content for social media and then she booked it, what a phony.
FIFY, while you're bullshi**in'. I wonder who Trump in a 2nd term would execute first. VP MTG (thick Southern accent): "Death? Or exile? Death by exile!"
That's pretty much what she does. Makes an appearance so she can be on FOX and other media then makes like a tree and gets out of there. She did the same with the Georgia elections dude (Gabriel Sterling) and sat next to him screeching about widespread election fraud in the state, and him refuting it all (he was in charge of chasing down every hare that Trump and Rudy released into the wild and, zip, nothing). As Sterling later mentioned to CNN, "She showed up late, made her false claims, and left early."
