In the mid to late 1920s, America was about the most laissez-faire capitalist country in the world. Taxes were low. The economy was free. Then, the stock market crashed and the government went crazy. To be fair to FDR, taxes started going way up before he got there, but once he was in office, he took the wheel and steered hard left. By 1944, federal income tax on your first dollar of income was 23%. That was on top of the implementation of social security. The welfare state began to take root. Federal power was consolidated to unprecedented levels. When the courts tried to stand in his way, he threatened to just seat more justices that agreed with him if they didn't let him pass what he wanted. Biden is doing quite a lot from a similar playbook to FDR (including raising taxes, interference in business, ignoring the courts, expanding the power of the federal government) but he is starting at a place much more like 1940s America than 1920s America.

Biden is ignoring the courts? What? Fdr proposed expanding the Supreme Court? Biden hasn't? You missed the anti trust part. Under fdr he passed Robinson-Patman act which was one of the most consequential laws passed at the time and finally took on monopolies head on with sherman act. The funny thing is bidens FTC is attempting to use law for first time in decades to reign in amazon. Fdr was ahead of our times. He was truly the last great American president. Good guy who loved this country.
